    Water company build over agreements

I’d be suprised if you needed a build over for a patio or shed - it’s unlikely to affect a sewer or lateral drain. Welsh Water specify a need for an extension, annexe, conservatory or garage. If the Water Authority did need to access the pipework the cost to re-instate is minimal.

    Looking like it’s Trump.

It was down 0.5% the day after the general election. A damning indictment of the Labour win. Or just the general fluctations of an index, it’s difficult to decide.

    Budget

It’s not so much the price rise (a little inflation in most things is seen as good) but the rate of the rises that it fuels. i can’t quote peer reviewed evidence, but let me give an example from an area I know, Salcome, Devon. Salcombe has become a tourist hotspot, and fights with Sandbanks...

    Budget

Because people buying second homes push up prices, meaning that people without any homes can’t afford to buy one.

    BBC news Black out

Well Strictly isn't on today so they had a spare slot on the Home page.

    Lintel or not?

If it had just been 2 courses of bricks you might have got away with it - although it wouldn’t be right. With the roof trusses sitting above as well, I’d be wanting a lintel.

    BBC news Black out

It’s not censored, it’s been prioritised. With only so much space on the home page, and with the Editors deeming other stories more important, it has been given a space on an alternative (appropriate) page. If it had been censored it wouldn’t be on the BBC at all.

    Tory Leadership Race

HMRC recognises this as an issue, particularly where an estate is largely made up of property which also cannot be liquidated easily, and allow IHT to be deferred for 10 years. That’s probably enough time to sort out business assets, even at £20M.

Who uses Pagers these days anyway?

The second link quotes the medic as working at a Hezbollah hospital - so fily’s description of a ‘Hezbollah Medic’ doesn’t seem inaccurate.

Who uses Pagers these days anyway?

Why not just post the link and claim the win?

I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t think the article answered the headline.

Insulating under a suspended timber floor

I just used loft insulation between the rafters, and stapled roof membrane to the bottom of the rafters. But plenty of underfloor ventilation is key.

    Extension PIR insulation wrong size!

You’re going to struggle to get the boards to butt up tight to each other and you won’t be able to tape the joints. I’d be surprised if your Building Inspector accepts it.

    Nightmare customer won’t pay

She should be giving you an oppurtunity to fix the snags. Not redo all the work for 5% lessthan agreed. Write it off, or follow the advice about further action - but don’t get drawn into silly games.

    Nightmare customer won’t pay

Neither of you can claim professional fee’s as part of the claim in fhe small claim track (In a minority of the parking ticket claims Defendants have been able to claim £18/hr for their time, but usually when the parking company have been ‘unreasonable’). The process is so simple that...

    Surface drain blocked

Don’t rule out past bodges, even at the time of construction. I’ve just excavated a gully, expecting to connect my new extension into the surface water drain; only to find that I have a gully that isn’t connected to anything and all the rainwater has been draining into the soil right next to...

Build over agreement - Drain survey completed and not sure what to do now

See if Thames Water have a handy guide to help. This is a picture from the Welsh Water equivalent, with which I’m too familar!, but broadly if your neighbours have full width extensions they wouldn’t give permission for another full width extension and would expect space to be left for an...

buying small parcel of Land from the council.

Ok, but I believe that the Council shouldn’t waste Taxpayers money by compiling long and unnecessary explanations for decisions that they make, where that decision only affects a very small number of people. I understand that the issue may be important to you, but that doesn’t mean it’s worthy...

Can Planning Authority revoke 'sign off' where applicant undertakes 'further development' specifically excluded from the permit

I doubt the Planning Oficers even check the BR sign off. In all likelihood the only way they ever know if something has been built differently to the application is if a disgruntled neighbour makes a complaint. The officer signing off the Building Regs is only interested is whether it has been...
