You're right, I have got it mixed up. Apologies. Oldbuffer clarified it much better than I in post 4.

How can I remove this radiator permanently? Flexi pipes??

I think OB was trying to say the following, 3ai....Compression cap ends do indeed use olives, but the inserts you would use with plastic pipe have o rings 3bi.....Yes, but you'd use inserts without o rings with push fit fittings.

How to remove this shower screen ?!

I can't really remember, which is why it is worth having a look at it, downwards from the top. I think if you can give it some force towards the opposite end of the bath, the 'nose' will unclip.

How to remove this shower screen ?!

It's photo 2 on the inside. That piece of aluminium is a cover which clips in place. It can be a bit fiddly. If you look down from the top (after taking the trim piece off if it's there) you'll see how they fit together.

    Pump position, is this mad?

Salamander have a few pumps with '50' in the name, and one of them can be used when there's less than 600mm between pump and tank. More details on their website.

    Tightening kitchen mixer tap

As Old & Rules say, it's a 'simplefit' tap. You tighten the clamp from the top, once you've taken the tap body off.

    Noisey WB 19/24 cbi

I think I've asked previously for help on this issue, and with kettling having been mention I've run some cleaner and silencer through the system, but am still struggling. I have a Worcester Bosch 19/24 cbi. About 10 minutes after coming on it starts makes a banging noise - sometimes quite...

    Tree Survey craziness....

I carried out my own tree survey for my PP. I think I used a spare OS plan, marked the position of anything significant with species and (a guesstimate of) the size. It was a few years back, but wasn't queried.

    1200mmx900mm shower alcove build

A 1200 door will usually be adjustable, so 1170-1210 or 1155-1205 for instance.

    Bathrooms

How about trying your local independant shop? Ours use the Eastbrook catalogue (http://www.eastbrooktrade.com) with their own name on it. I've always been told that it's branded stuff, which may be a bit more expensive than B&Q, but when you need a spare part they'll just order one in. Try...

    Crazy Gas Consumption

Could it be something simple like you have an imperial meter? You've actually used 1770cu/ft of gas, but the units have got mixed up?

cross over bend between too points

Are any of the other measurements critical? Because otherwise if you allow 100mm for the straight section jn the middle and pull your 2 bends, then at some point they'll be 400mm apart. Just measure and cut.

Why buy an old style hot water system which can "run out of hot water"?

Because these systems often have a backup heating system (immersion) built in. If the boiler breaks you can still get hot water. If your on demand system fails you've got nothing until it gets fixed.

Drayton Digistat RF3 weekend temperature setting

Hi Glow, Can't help specifically, but my RF3 has a similar issue in that the 'Sunday' setting never works properly. It always switches off at 20C, despite being set to 21. Never could find the fault, nothing is set to 20.

    Etched Door Glass

Ronnie - thanks for the offer. Picture attached. Ultimately I'm going to need a double glazed unit to fit - dimensions so far unknown. Crank - If I can get a transfer sorted, then I've got the option of having the glass blasted, or spray frosting it myself, or just applying etched vinyl. The...

    Etched Door Glass

My mum has a half glazed door with an etched panel which has a fairly inticate pattern. She wants to treat herself to a new door, but would like to have a similar piece of glass. A local company has quoted for a new door, on the basis that their supplier can "match any glass for £100"...

final sign off after 7 years, problems?

Our extension was finally signed off 5 years after we started living in it. The delay wasn't a problem, we just got a letter from Building Control every 6 months asking us to call and confirm where we were. The only issue was that there had been a change of regs, and there was some confusion...

Seized/Rusted Bolts and Wingnuts on Cistern

Do you need to take the ciatern off? Can you just twist the flush unit and remove it from the base, then clip the new one in?

    Trees on development site

+1 - my tree survey was a series of dots on an Ordnance Survey plan. My tree identification was "that looks a bit Sycamorey, lets call it a Sycamore"' and my measurements were 'a lot taller than my house, lets call it 14m'. For a small project like this, I'm not sure the LA are going to...

Boiler Circuit Boards - high cost of failures

I think it's a consequence of making products cheap, as that is what consumers want, but then having to mark up spares to make a profit. It happens in many industries - my washing machine needed a new motor, a 10 minute fix. A new motor was £155, a new machine £175. I wrote to Beko and tbey...
