Okay. That is what I did in January, if I do the same thing again, why will I not just be back here in another six months?

Baxi Boiler - Water gets hot then cold then hot.

Okay. That was January, this is June. The problem is back. Do I just repeat the clean as before? Do I buy a new heat exchange plate and replace this one? Is there an underlying problem causing this that I need to sort out? What would you more experienced guys do? Thanks

Radiator and insulated plasterboard with DPM

I am refurbing a bedroom. There has been a damp problem which, in the end, I had a damp guy in to look at. (Damp guy as in does the damp surveys for English Heritage and the National trust rather than as in bloke selling damp treatments). As a result I am fitting a damp proof membrane...

    Washed Sands

I have been working with a stomemason on some work around my Victorian House. He has given me some mixes used for lime mortar pointing and lime plastering. All of these mixes involve the use of washed sand, either washed building sand or washed plastering sand or a combination of the two...

Baxi Boiler - Water gets hot then cold then hot.

Managed to get the Heat Exchange off. Soaked it in a 50% brick acid solution for about 30 mins. Washed it through with a hose pipe jet. Managed to get it back in place. Pressured up the system and now testing it. Fingers crossed.

Okay. Family visit over, bad case of flu, Christmas … all came and went. Finally getting around to looking at this problem. What I thought was. Put F3 in the system. Run the system for a couple of days. Drain the system. Refill the system. Run the system for a couple of hours. Drain...

Baxi Boiler - Water gets hot then cold then hot.

Just checked the paperwork from when we had the boiler fitted. Yes the system was flushed.

Baxi Boiler - Water gets hot then cold then hot.

The boiler is about six years old. It was fitted when we bought the house and enlarged the existing CH system. I am not sure what flushing entails or whether it was done at the time we fitted the boiler.

Baxi Boiler - Water gets hot then cold then hot.

I had a problem with my boiler (Baxi Duo-Tec Combi 40 HE A). It was overheating and then when cool loosing pressure and stopping. I called the guy that installed it and he diagnosed replacing the pressure vessel. This he did, (but at a huge cost – I checked the cost of the part and worked out...

New guttering fittings Vs old guttering fittings.

I am currently replacing some guttering. I am taking down old Hunter 112mm guttering and replacing it with new 112mm Hunter. Simple you would imagine. Except the both the new stop end drain fitting and the new 90 degree bend fitting are longer than the old ones they are replacing...

    Odd Damp Problem

It is difficult to imagine how they could have been swept after they were bricked up, but less so before they were. My point is that I have checked all the flues that haven't been bricked up and they have clearly been thougroughly cleaned. Your saying that the others haven't been is...

    Odd Damp Problem

Okay, so assuming there was a scullery I could go in through the wall of the lean to to the fireplace on that side of the wall. Any thoughts on figuring out where on the wall the fireplace might have been? (I am assuming that it has been bricked up and not just plasterboarded over, so tapping...
