So the main thing is labour because it takes a while, how long did yours take, just the dormer i mean not the bathroom.

Hi, I was wondering why i keep hearing that dormers are expensive when doing a loft conversion, they seem to add quite a bit to the price that people get quoted (having looked on various forums). Why is that, they don't seem very complicated?

Also, when i said relatively cheap i meant it, not doing it on the cheap if you know what i mean.

I didn't know this forum was frequented by so many comedians. :D Are there any diy'ers or builders out there though? All i want to know really is what people have seen on similar types of roofs/extensions, there must be plenty out there right? What have they done to the roof on those?

I'm no expert, but what about cutting out a bit of plasterboard and fitting ply in it's place, then you can fix and it'll be secure without wasting space.
