12v 10amp to 240v plug, help required please

Surely the first thing you need to check is which model hand basin you have. This will affect the size of the fuse you need to use. 12v DC is far safer than 240V. 12V Garden lights leaking and filling with water will continue to operate long after a 230v will have tripped. The main risk is a...

Pool heaters ... electric power question added

Just get a cable with waterproof connector. As others have said as long as it is unwound it should be ok. I did similar but used a 2.5mm cable but then had to use a toughplug on one end.

Building oak sleeper retaining wall - is this a correct way?

I think the idea is that it is easier to compact and less likely to shift around so settlement is less likely. Most videos ive seen suggest 20mm or so size. I suppose it is similar to permeable bedding layers; you dont use pea gravel as it has no strength.

Building oak sleeper retaining wall - is this a correct way?

You can register with a website for free and providers will send rough maps of where services are. They are called something search before you dig. I found where my electric internet etc were routed before i did some landscaping of the front garden but could only guess where the gas is from...

Building oak sleeper retaining wall - is this a correct way?

Really i think a wall just over a foot high wouldnt be under a significant load and obviously even if it toppled there is a low risk of injury. Id still have some gravel behind and pin each sleeper to the one below with stainless steel threaded rods /fixings/ brackets or similar. Maube you...

Building oak sleeper retaining wall - is this a correct way?

Hi the first thing to check is how high is this wall. You have drawn 5 sleepers so is it 50cm? How long is it also? I am not a structural engineer but the first thing to be aware of is that you should seek advice from one if the wall is over 1m. I would want to be quite confident over the...

    Loose Patio slab

The first time i did a patio ( small area about 1.5 x 1.5m for a bbq) i used slablayer and about 5 slabs didnt stick!! Rather than redo the whole thing i stuck them down with pinkgrip and they are still ok 4 years later! The alternative would be to score the concrete base and back slab with...

    Solar Water Heating

I read somwhere that max energy per metre squared is only 1kw per hour so you are straight away limited to 750w with the size of the collector. You can estimate the temperature increase per hour by 750 x 3600 divided by (4200 x litres of water on the pool. ) This assumes no energy losses also...
