    Removing the permenantly on radiator

Cheers. I'm going to rebalance the system as I've changed a couple of rads, so does the permenantly on rad need to be fully open, or should I balance it same as the others ?

    Removing the permenantly on radiator

He said something about it not being used anymore, when the heating is on it's just on and the TRVs control temperature. It all worked ok after he did it.

    Removing the permenantly on radiator

not really, when he fitted it he bypassed the room stat (which was on the middle landing - no rad there). I would ask him, but I'd need a oija board..

    Removing the permenantly on radiator

On my (pressurised) CH system, I currently have one radiator that cannot be turned off. All the others have TRVs on them. The chap that fitted it said it had to be like that so that the pump would never be trying to pump a closed system. However, soon I will be removing that radiator when I'm...

    B.T. Advice needed

I'm surprised they says it tests ok as to return engaged tone, the line has to have a short circuit on it. If you dont have an NTE5 with a removeable bottom half : then you must have old style line jacks : If you unplug all your phones/ans machines/modems etc, then ring it from...

    Sealing shower door/frame

I have fitted a shower door/frame in my bathroom but I have a leak. I think I've figured out what to do, but would appreciate a second opinion (door/frame is from bathstore and instructions are useless). looking at picture (B) below, frame is mounted on to edge of tray so that it covers the...

MP3 / video players. Advice needed.

Audio wise, I prefer Creative, having owned a MuVo and a Zen Touch. Creative tend to play anything you throw at it. I've also heard tell that an iPod needs to use iTunes to load stuff but I could be wrong on that. As for video, a tiny screen isn't great, but if you're catching up with soaps...

    Removing the remnants of Vista

Sorry, was a bit vague. You need to use the XP CD to start the recovery console then run fixmbr and fixboot. this will restore the XP boot record, overwriting the vista one.

    router problems

Sounds like a problem with the desktop. Try booting with a linux live CD and see if that is stable using a cable. (download iso and burn : http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/releases.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/gutsy/kubuntu-7.10-desktop-i386.iso) It will boot off the CD and wont affect your XP...

    telephone wiring... again

If it's pre-NTE5, then the master socket can sit anywhere on the wiring. All sockets should be connected in parallel (2-2, 3-3, 5-5). You must have continuity on all connected wires between sockets so if a cable is joined at a junction box, then the working connectors should all be joined. The...

    telephone master socket

As far as clipping cable goes, staple guns are good if you want to put one stright through the cable and cut a couple of connectors whereas cleats are just the job if you want to crush the cable with a 1lb hammer (also good for getting a couple of nice black fingernails too). Seriously...

Tesco 3GB download limit on broadband per month?

You are also downloading unwanted garbage in the form of adverts on pages. You can stop this and save bandwidth by using a hosts file (It can also make pages load faster). Do a goole for "hosts file" or have a look at http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
