Would it be ok to split the tails into a double pole service connector block, then one pair to go to cu, and the other to a 2way rcd cu unit and into it goes my downstairs ring main? Or is there an easier way?

Forgive me, but I was under the impression that if you upgraded the CU, then you had to upgrade the main earths, but not if you were doing minor works.

Decided to put a 13a rcd fused spur in each room on the existing ring, and spur off to 3/4 sockets in each room as radials.....covered.....thanks for the put downs....so much for advice!!!

Does this mean that you can't add an extra socket, on say a grd flor dwelling unless you change the circuit or new point to an rcd?

Been to look at a grd floor, 2 room new extension, and am going to break into the downstairs ring main, but the fuse protecting the circuit is a rewirable, and in one of the rooms is a door leading out into the back garden, so are able to plug a extension lead to outside, not on an rcd. My...

That's what I thought any work in bathrooms or kitchens ( special locations ) need to be notified, no matter how minor.

Just finished a little job and basically a little puzzled at the moment. The main incoming fuse is fuse wire in an old ceramic holder, with no details/ scc/ or EN number? so what do I fill in for the overcurrent protective device details? Any hellp would be appreciated.. Katron

Don't reckon he did a proper IR test, removing all lamps etc....alright might be slightly on the high side.....but JUST A SWITCH !!!!!!! If someone gets electrocuted who's the one in the s**t, thats what regs are for.

thanks equitum, but if things are not unsafe, they still might not be to current regs. Cus the assessor says its not ok just to write your defects/findings down on the form. Say for example I'm installing a light, and find a problem with the wiring, which obviously I am responsible for, but...

There was an existing clamp with a lug, so I was ok, but I shall bear that in mind.
