    the spray arms would still rotate in the same direction but with less pressure, you'll soon know if the dishes are not soaking wet or come out dirty after a full wash program.

    will probably run in opposite direction if wires are reversed though to be honest I am not sure it will on this motor

    white/orange and white to motor / pump connector so yes like you say pink/orange and pink to valve

    the red one goes to the water inlet (filling) side by the looks of it. you are going to have to strip it down to know for sure whats going on.

    aha, open ended at sump. i do think the blue one will connect to a pressure sensor at the other end.

    sure one of them will go to a pressure sensor, most likely the blue arrowed one what do you mean by 'open ended'? do not connect to anything, surely not

    do you always use dw salt? hard water in your area? is there a setting for water hardness or a manual dial on some makes/models this could be why the heater has failed, if it has, i guess 4 yrs is about right for these elements

    keep in touch and let me know which way you want to go. theres no need to remove the heater to test it, just need to get access to it! heres a dmm that will do, ebay item no.263117717877 but to get one sooner you will need to pay a bit more. also you have to buy your own battery for this one

    can you not 'pinch' the clip so the gap is smaller so the element will clip back into place? just a thought

    if the heating element is knackered the dmm will measure high resistance i.e get no reading at all. then replace the heater and machine should be working again! 2 options- buy a replacement heater and try it or buy a cheapo dmm and test before £x's on heater that may not fix the problem

    photo would really help here are you sure its an inlet filling tube? by small pipe would indicate its connected to a pressure sensor if yours has one fitted if its about 5 mm in diameter i would say pressure sensor pipe

    no no no no checking power!!! MACHINE OFF! UNPLUGGED! only checking the heating element but yes to pulling it out of unit and removing any side panels

    dmm - digital multi meter can buy them on ebay for a couple of quid, nothing fancy but does not need to be. guess thats a no then. what about a couple of wires, a battery and a bulb, perhaps from a torch.
