    Quinn Flat Concrete Roof Tiles

I used them recently on a garage for a customer, it was the black ones and they looked great once done. Avoid Marley tiles, the colour is painted on them.

Neighbour's new loft conversion has left me exposed!

I use these bonding gutters on a regular basis and this is done wrong and will leak eventually. The slates should be as close the the central up-stand as possible. These bonding gutters have 2 lips in them on each side and both are supposed to be covered...

    Bird Guard

I'm a roofer and see it all the time.... they make nests in areas next to valleys and watergates that can draw water in. But because you consider it an honour no one should ever get rid of them.

    Bird Guard

If you are trying to install them under the first row you would need to remove the tiles.

    Bird Guard

They can cause leaks, make way into your attic and die leaving a foul stench etc. They are no different to any rodent/animal getting in your house.

    Bird Guard

You want something like this https://www.roofingsuperstore.co.uk/product/manthorpe-eaves-comb-filler-66cm-x-100cm-.html It is easy to use and fills all the gaps under the tile.

Spanish vs Brazilian vs Marley Modern....

I would recommend avoiding Marley tiles (especially the flat ones) they tend to ship them out as soon as they make them instead of letting them rest which makes them a bit fragile. Plus only having one nail hole isn't the best on a tile. A good Spanish slate (CUPA's) are extremely good when...

    Roof valleys

Any reason why? In Scotland that is how we do it and although we don't use battens it would still seem like the best way to me. Have it flat and use some timber to create the upstand that would be level with the battens so the slate runs through level.

    Roof valleys

The best way is to cut the wood so that it fits in between the rafters and sits level with them. Doing it this way won't cause any uplift at the valley.

    Flat roof repair products

You could put wood over the existing roof if you wanted to. I've had to do this up in Stirling recently because they didn't want to strip the old felt back.

Another low pitch roof thread - Marley Ashmore or Plain?

The Wessex tile is a good option and can go down to 15 degrees https://www.marley.co.uk/products/concrete-tiles/wessex I done a very low pitch job with Rosemary tiles(very similar to plain tile but clay) as specified by the architect, we had to install a sort of profiled tray under it to take...

Setting roof slates out before installing

I'm assuming you are in England if you are setting them out in a specific way. I'm in Scotland and we just load the slates onto the planks we stand on as we don't batten the roof out.
