    Coolant Temperature Sensor

Dear Forum Car: Peugeot 206 LX Auto (With A/C) Engine: YU3JP (KFW) I am changing the engine CTS on the above. There are two temperature sensors, one on top of the coolant housing and one on the side. The one on top is blue and has three terminals, the one on the side has 2 terminals...

    Finding a leak

Why is this problem only happening at 94 degress, which is also the point when the cooling fan turns on? Once the engine has cooled down a bit it stops. Could the fault be related to the cooling fan coming on? My thought is turning back to the Idle control valve again! Peter

    Finding a leak

The guy at the garage checked it and said he did not think it was leaking, if it was he'd expect it to idle rough all the time. Looking at the MOT test results, I would say the lambda sensor was fine too. I'm going to change the temperature sensor in the hope that this will sort it out. Thanks

    Finding a leak

Took car to Peugeot specialist. He had a good look at the intake system and all sensors and could not find anything wrong. He changed the exhaust and put in a bottle of Forte Gas treatment. He said this should help clean up the engine inc lambda sensors. Was out the other day, everything...

    Finding a leak

Hmmm, not sure about the gasket. Could any of the old-school mechs help here? I've placed a vacuum gauge on the engine when warmed up. Vacuum is roughly 18 inchs but is not steady, waves up and down by plus or minus 1 mark. Does this point to anything...

    Finding a leak

FOUND IT! It's one of the inlet manifold seals. On the others the manifold sits flat with the head but on the fourth inlet there is a small 1.5mm gap and you can see the seal. I hope this is not a warped inlet manifold!? I don't want to remove the manifold myself, so could anyone on here...

    Finding a leak

Hi Forum, My wife's car has returned to form and has a high idle (2800) when started from cold and idle fluctuates when coming to a stop. Y reg 206 1.4 Auto The consensus on the forum is it is a vacuum leak, somewhere. How best to find the leak? I've heard that you should spray carb...

    High Idle

John, if you're right, it may come back when teperatures dip below double figures again!! Until then, I'm optimistic. That reminds me: An optimist will say the glass is half full. A pessimist will say the glass is half empty. An Engineer will say the glass is twice as big as it needs to...

    High Idle

UPDATE: Decided to live with the problem, as could not find anything obvious. Went in for a major service a couple of weeks ago and the problem has gone!!! Garage replaced air,oil and fuel filter, spark plugs and new oil. Which one of these could have caused the high idle? Could crappy oil...

    High Idle

Just did a few tests: If I rev the engine hard (>3500) a loud hissing noise is heard when I take my foot off the gas pedal - it sounds like it's coming from the back of the inlet manifold. Is this a leak or is it just high velocity air rushing in through the throttle by-pass. Also, when I...

    peugeot 206 idle problems

Did you fix this problem? As my wife's 206 has also developed the exact same fault. thanks Peter

    High Idle

The car no longer idles high when started but will hold the revs high when you take your foot of the gas pedal. Went for a drive today and it was accerlerating with my foot off the gas pedal, revs only lowered as I braked. It only seems to do it when the engine is below temperature, when warmed...

    High Idle

I gave the throttle body and ICV a good clean with some carb cleaner and left the battery dis-connectted overnight. Car was fine for about a week and then started to do the same thing again, when engine cold. I took all the vac hoses off and gave them a close inspection. The green rubber...

    High Idle

Thanks Skippster The Idle valve was replaced last time it had a hunting problem, which turned out to be the purge valve not closing. Although, I do think it could be a possibility. Will get some carb cleaner and give it a good clean. Thanks Peter

    High Idle

Thanks to everyone that helped with my last problem with the purge valve, but I'm affraid the car has developed another related issue. Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto (Y/2001) On starting the engine will idle at 2,000. Sometimes it goes down by itself after about 10 seconds othertimes it will come...

    peugeot 206 idle problems

Hi scojototo, I'm the guy that had the same issue with my wife's 206. Was in the dealers three times and turned out to be the purge valve. The purge valve is located in the right-hand corner of the engine bay, behind the coolant expansion tank. Part was £17 from peugeot. I didn't fit...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Problem solved. I spoke directly to the workshop supervisor on Monday who told me they had gone over everything, all sensors we're checked, the inlet manifold and throttle housing we're checked. Bloke said an 'old school' technician with 20 years experience from another dealership was coming...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

I understand the frustrations that the technician is going through, I spoke to the guy last time I dropped the car off. He wants to illiminate the simple things first, he was going to check for vaccum leaks and then test all the wiring from the ECU. I don't know what he is going to do next, will...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

No, it never goes in to the red, usually about 95ish? The car has A/C, so shouldn't the fans come on when this is turned on? ECT - Is this next to the coolant hose going to the top of the radiator? Has blue connector with 3-pins? I assume it's a voltage divider with a thermistor. Which pin...
