Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

It's happened while in park with foot off the brake too. This usually happens when the engine has been restarted after a short break in journey. I've noticed that the engine temperature goes up when it has been turned off after a longish journey, is this heat soak? This is usually when the...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Well, the car is still in the garage. I've been ringing them every other day and they seem to be getting nowhere. Last time I rung, they said they had taken the inlet manifold off and checked all seals for leaks. I've been reading a bit on other forums and found a few that needed a new lambda...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Thanks Millerman. I asked a neighbour of ours who has a Y reg manual and found the same setup too. She hasn't had many problems with hers though :-( The MPG is rubbish at the moment (26 MPG) but thats down to it being in and out of the garage. I changed the plugs and air filter just before...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Just had a thought. Could one or more of the injectors be blocked/dirty? It's only done 38K, but this had been 95% city traffic. The fuel filter has never been changed either. Checked MOT history. The last owner did just 1K miles a year! Last MOT failed on emissions/lambda reading, with...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Tested the brake servo, no problems there. But the pedal doesn't go right to the top, more like halfway? Slight blow on the exhaust, around the backbox, but I think I already mentioned this. Thought it seem to be more noticeable. I wish the fault wasn't so Intermittent, it makes it so...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Thanks John. Just did a quick check on ebay and found a replacement vacuum hose, which has push connections at both ends. So it shouldn't need the hose and clips? Thoughts?

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Could I just check something that looks a bit of a bodge job with you all? The vacuum hose (plastic) from the manifold to the brake cylinder has a short piece of braded hose over the end connector (at the brake cylinder end) held on by two jubilee clips. Should this be here? Could it indicate...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

I don't believe it!!!! It's happened again. Went round a friends, about ten miles away, no problems. About three hours later we got back in. Ran into some traffic on the way back, as we stopped in traffic the engine starts to idle up & down again. Once we get going steady, the problem goes...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Seems to be improved but .... Idle speed is about 700-750 ish (should it be this low?). Slow to repond to a change in engine load (like before but it does not hunt up and down). This leads me to believe there is still a vacuum leak or the MAP sensor is not responding quick enough to...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Well, no phone call! I called them about 30 mins before they closed. Said they have been carrying out road tests all day and the car appears to be fine but they have asked to keep the car tomorrow so they can do more testing to be sure. More bull? Collecting Thursday. Will be doing a...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Thanks millerman, thought this might be unusual. re - dealer bull I thought that too and said to him I wasn't aware you could "adjust" a stepper motor. He replyed they adjusted a setting in the software, not the stepper motor and the technician needs to start car from cold to test. I read...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

Peugeot dealer rings me up today to say the pipe fitting is loose but the seal is working. Told me that the ICV has been "adjusted" and they will fully test tomorrow. What do they mean by adjusting the ICV? Thanks Peter

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

I think I've found it? Started the car. Took the hose connection and pulled/pushed in on the hose, and the idle went rough with the engine cold. Do I have a leak here? Here is a photo of the hose clip/pipe. Will the whole connector need replacing or just the o-ring? Thanks Peter

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

OK, a bit more info (see if we can crack this). Ive looked at all the vac hoses, no obvious leaks but the hose that clips on to the vacuum chamber moves up and down the pipe it clips on to. It moves about 5mm, is the o-ring inside making a proper seal? One other point. When the car was...

Peugeot 206 1.4 Auto idling issue?

I spoke too soon! It's now a lot worse. Seems to happen when your stuck in traffic and the engine gets a bit hot (+90 C). Wife was in a right panic when it happened stuck in slow moving roadworks. Ive booked it back in to the garage but what do you think it might be? My first thought is the...
