Now that's what you call a slate!

That picture was taken from my camera - certainly not from a property programme. The job was re-roofing a converted stable block at the rear of a pub in Masham North Yorkshire And as I said that picture wasn't of the biggest slate - one was 44" high by 55" wide

Code 5 lead flashings for roof valley

Quote from BLM link:- 'One coat of Patination Oil should be applied to all Leadwork. It helps prevent white carbonate staining that may occur on newly fitted lead running onto adjacent materials and provides a pleasing finish to any leadwork.' Isn't that what I said? Nothing in there...

Code 5 lead flashings for roof valley

No it won't Patination oil prevents any water run-off from the lead causing staining to slates etc. It does not give any protection to the lead.

    Flat roof vent advice?

It's quite easy to form the ventilation by using an over fascia vent which you should be able to pick up for about £1.50 a metre or less

    Dry verge quandary

Quite right, when the Dry Verge comes down to a valley you do have to get creative. Blocking the gaps has to be equally creative, sometimes (depending on type of plastic) you can overcut and fold; or utilise a piece of eave comb filler; or any other method to suit your particular tile/verge...

    I had a dream...

I've got to agree with joe-90 here When my M-I-L's flat roof sprung a leak and brought down the ceiling not only did they refuse to pay for the roof on the basis that it is the householders responsibility to maintain they also wouldn't pay for the ceiling for the same reason. And this was an...

    Roof repair problems

Unfortunately, yes they are. It is inherently dangerous to climb a ladder that high, then you've got to get off at the top and walk on the roof - what if there's a loose slate or tile? And I bet if he only took 10 minutes to repair your roof you would moan that he charged £50 (or £100/£150...

    Desperately need advice

Don't worry about your roof being overloaded, concrete pantiles actually weigh significantly less than Rosemarys. Rosemarys are 78 kg per sq metre compare to about 50 kg for concrete pantiles. Your cracks have been caused by something else, possibly by the point load weight of the roofers...

    Woodwool roof decking slabs?

Yes, for sticking insulation to concrete deck, it did what it said on the tin. I can't remember how costing compared but it's a lot quicker than screwing.
