Front room bay window roof leaking

If you have Plain tiles on your roof it may be that there are no soakers behind the lead flashing see here Also, sealing the lead to the tiles will cause more problems that it solves as any water that is between the tile laps (caused by capillary action) is prevented from draining out.

Buying a rechargeable camera in USA

Hi all, I hope someone can give me some advice please. My daughter is in the US at the moment and has been comparing the prices of digital cameras there compared with the UK. Unsurprisingly (does everything cost more here?) they are significantly cheaper. If she buys one over there is...

Cast iron soil stack through tiled pitched roof -lead flash?

Nothing wrong with Essex roofers, it's who you know that counts. Corrado, would one of these do the job ? Because it has a flexible rubber centre it can often be pulled down around pipe collars etc.

Oak Floor - have I got it right?

I've ordered a 21mm x 160mm solid oak, t&g floor with a brushed and oiled finish which I am going to lay myself and would like confirmation that I am going about it the right way. I'm laying it in my lounge (5.6x5.2m) which has a 65mm screed on a DPM over a beam and block (suspended) floor...

    advice for solid oak floor

I obviously concede to WYL and other experts but would like to add my own (non professional) comments Your floor consists of oak flooring glued to a liquid DPM applied to old bitumen adhesive on screed. You state that the expert says that 10% of the flooring is stuck to the screed, does he...

    Lead gully repair

You know the answer to this already. Of course it's better to do a complete renewal (if done properly) But if you are happy with a cheaper, temporary repair then there are many proprietary brush-on type products available from merchants which may cure your problem for a while.

    flat roof

Wait for a dry spell (!) and then put a hose on the roof and look for leaks; if no leaks then the problem is condensation.

Anyone used a vent like this?

jeds, you are linking to Document F1 which deals with ventilation of buildings and specifically to PSV (Passive Stack Ventilation) which has got nothing to do with SVP (Soil Vent Pipe) venting. I can assure you that the positioning of a SVP whether by vent tile or just the pipe itself is...

Anyone used a vent like this?

Sorry jeds I can't agree with that; if you leave aside the question of the tile vent and had just a plastic pipe, plenty of them come through the lower part of the roof are you saying they have to be extended higher than the ridge?
