    Insulation

A lot depends on the construction of the house, but generally: Air passing between ground floor ceiling and first floor boards. This can be sealed by lifting the floor and sealing joists and pipes where they penetrate the inner leaf of the wall. Air leaking from integral garage. This can...

a funny thing happened on the way to work today....

Sounds like the nuts were far too tight. Get someone to check the other side and send the bill to whoever changed the tyres. I once had some so tight I had to use the jack under a length of pipe on the wheel brace - hard shoulder of the M1 too.

It Never Ceases To Amaze Me...

    Energy efficient heating/DHW

Thanks both for your replies. I will just replace the boiler for a heat only. I have tried to find info on the relative efficiencies of instant hot water against stored hot water and found it's not cut and dried, so I guess there's not much in it either way. I think the heat only boiler would...

    Energy efficient heating/DHW

Hi, I have asked this on another forum, but didn't really get any help. Hoping someone here might have an answer (if there is one). We are looking to replace our 13 year old boiler with something more efficient. Our current system has a Albion Mainsflow thermal store which is directly heated...
