RSJ Resting on timber lintel over window ?

Thanks. Here are the SE original drawings. The beam 'D' did not originally rest on window but because of mis-measuring I presume on his part it falls there. I will get him to do stress check for the timber and if necessary replace. Any other input would be much appreciated...

Good point Catlad. Should go for the steel then. Does it need to be bolted?

RSJ Resting on timber lintel over window ?

Thanks for reply. Timber lintel 3"x4" and the 3.6 RSJ is resting right at the edge, almost where the timber spans onto the brick. window span is 600mm. The load will be a 6m Rsj that terminates on a 50x50 box steel post (which rests on 3.6rsj) in the centre of the loft which will bear the...

RSJ Resting on timber lintel over window ?

As part of a dormer conversion (in a 1927 build semi) a 3.6m RSJ will be put into the first floor to support a 50x50 steel post that the centre steel RSJ will be terminating on in the loft floor (to make way for the staircase). This first floor RSJ at one end terminates on a timber lintel of a...

    disconnect/isolating primatic cylinder

Hi, i have a primatic cylinder system which i will be replacing soon, in the mean time is it possible to disconnect the f & r from/to the boiler and leave the cold water supply to the cylinder from the header so it can be used to supply DHW only by using the electrical immersion? This will be a...

    primatic system

Hi, I have a primatic tanked central heating/Dhw system. Question is, can i drain the CH system to work on it while continuing to use the boiler to heat Dhw? :?:

transam, I don't know what you mean by- combi store=free hot water. So the Heatline Capriz not bad. They actually come with 2year parts & labour. http://www.heatline.co.uk/capri-plus/ For £399 with flue and clock!

ok then..... from the sublime to the ridiculous!...... maybe? Continuing on the theme.. Anybody rate these?- http://www.compass-plumbing.co.uk/caprizplus-24kw-combi :D I was thinking we can run CH off this (and DHW for now) and with lead pipe done, higher flow rate, and loft...

What about the 28kw http://www.heatandplumb.com/acatalog/Ravenheat_CSI_85AAA_780_Condensing_Combi_Gas_Boiler_28kW_including_Horizontal_Flue_and_Clock.html and feeding a unvented cylinder off that for the showers? Our CH needs are only 16kw max. 12 rads at around 51,000btu. I had come...

:) He actually did suggest this one to me when came round to quote for the 100. I originally was thinking about the atmos multi 24/80 but just don't have the cupboard space. May be pushing it a bit with the w111. Does any other manufacturer make this type of storage combi?

Do you think the 26kw model of the Viessmann vitodens-w 111 storage combi would be more suitable to a 12 radiator property as DHW was the main issue which led to the high end 35kw combis? http://www.plumbnation.co.uk/site/viessmann-vitodens-111-w-26kw-storage-combi-boiler/

Thanks. this could be a good option- http://www.plumbnation.co.uk/site/viessmann-vitodens-111-w-35kw-storage-combi-boiler/ do you know if it has an immersion heat element for backup like the Atmos Multi(beast)? It doesn't say anything on the link.

Thanks for the input. I'm looking at getting the lead pipe replaced, which runs from outside main to stop cock. This would increase flow rate to around 22l/min (so i'm told).
