    Well done wind

There's a limit to how much storage is viable, even now costs are coming down. We may be able to reduce gas use, but will always need it for this long dark nights when there is very little wind. Its just not worth having that much storage for what could happen once per year or even less. The...

    Well done wind

Speaking as someone who used to make valves, they don't need to be anymore expensive than other valves, unless the material used in more expensive. The tolerances shouldn't be finer, and the quality of finish shouldn't need to be different (even if they are, this can be accounted for quite...

    USB Sockets

One of my USB sockets has failed again. This is a MK socket with two USB-A sockets in it. The mains sockets are fine, but the USB sockets seem to fail after about a year. We just use the USB socket for charging phones. Are there any better makes of USB socket? Or am I doing something...

    Well done wind

Very true. And fear has resulted in over regulation in many respects to fission. While we want safe designs, we are in a situation where things like the valves used have to be to a nuclear standard and much greater cost. That sounds sensible, until you realise that they are the same valves...

That is an issue of course, and one that can be fixed by changing the material used to make the blades. Which looks like is being looked at. When you have larger volumes, its does create incentives to make thing more recyclable. We also need far more nuclear power of course.

Beef is not a luxury item when its £5.29 for 500g: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/250871426 Prices vary worldwide of course.

And chicken has a lower carbon footprint than UK grown commercial tomatoes and cucumbers. Spanish tomatoes shipped to the UK are better in this respect.

I agree that we shouldn't pay VAT on carbon saving stuff such as solar panels, or use the VAT paid on it to offset the cost elsewhere for it. Either way, there should be an incentive. In fact many items are exempt from VAT but there's room for improvement: VAT on energy-saving products You’ll...

You don't pay carbon taxes. That's something that big emitters do. But it is a way to overcome Jevons Paradox.

    Net Zero Rollback

So a minority of people aged between 18 and 49 think global warming is exaggerated (less than 20% overall going by that). But even that isn't meaningful, as whether it is real or not is not up to the public. Would you rather trust the public or 1000s of experts on issues like this.
