Last UK coal fired power station closes

Carbon capture has a history of poor performance in the US, and as you say, expensive. They are still trying to install it in the UK off the Humber, feeding from various large carbon sources such as Drax, refineries, and British Steel.

Last UK coal fired power station closes

The IEA report does says that nuclear will be increased to 2050. There will likely be a greater increase than stated, as many new plants are currently planned, and the political appetite has warmed to it in recent years. Not least the experience of Germany increasing its coal consumption to...

    Mira Sport 10.8kW Shower

Our electric shower (as above) has stopped working on full power, and will only work on "Eco" mode which looks to be just a medium power. At full power, it often won't come on hot, or if it does, go very hot. I tried replacing the thermal switch, but didn't seem to make a difference. Any...

    Oasis announce (reunion) tour

Support more obscure bands, take a chance on some unknown at a local venue. You may end up seeing the next big thing before they become famous, and its far cheaper. The more you do it, the more you get to know some great acts. My sister saw Oasis at Adelphi in Hull (its a tiny venue). Even...

    Music Collection

Once things are digitised, you can keep listening to them. However, if they are non-rarity recordings, you should be able to get them on download anyway. CDs should be ripped, no question. Like others have said, getting rid of them is not an easy task. I have got rid of all my tapes, and...

    Build, build, build.

Given it was a corrupt vote, and had it been legally binding, would likely have been dropped as a result.... yes. It clearly made no appreciable difference to immigration anyway in terms of numbers.

    Build, build, build.

Tories took us out of the EU, in case you didn't notice, so none of the above have been relevant for a number of year. Immigration is a net benefit to the economy, which is one reason why parties say they will control it but fail to.

    Wind Turbines

Insulation is effectively an energy efficiency issue. Such issues can lead to more energy being consumed in the long term owing to Jevon's Paradox. Either by the user, or non a more macro-economic level. Solar panels do not suffer from this issue, as they are replacing an energy generation.

    Exit Poll

Last night, the expert on BBC said that exit polls are great for predicting the major parties, but the margin for error for the more minor parties is significant. When you consider that they only look at a limited number of constituencies, this is understandable.
