    overheating

The radiator fan will only come on when the water temperature reaches about 85C and with the already hot water entering the engine if the circulation is poor then by the time the water exits the engine it is too hot. Turning on the heating cools the water a bit more as it exists the engine so...

    overheating

The pump does not need the fan in order to work but if there is air in the system the pump is probably not able to work very well so there will be much reduced water flow. Without the radiator fan being forced to be on the radiator temperature will get up to about 80C before the fan comes on...

Were you in traffic at the time? If you were it might not have the same problem on an open road. Its not going to get better though as it probably sucking in air through the leaking hose.

    overheating

You are probably getting a little air sucked into the system so I think it will be an issue until it is fixed properly. Maybe at higher engine revs the pump can work better but if you get stuck in slow traffic you might have to put the heater on. You might want to also try shorting out the...

    overheating

As the radiator fan is coming on it sounds like it is working fine. There are two main causes of overheating. One is due to water not circulating which can be air in the water pump (which was probably your problem) or a thermostat stuck closed. The second is a problem I had once in my old bmw...

    overheating

Yes that should work. If you are clearing the air you should see it bubble up through the expansion tank or at least see the water level drop. When it stops dropping you are done.

    overheating

Normally there is a hose at the bottom of the expansion tank which allows liquid to enter and when it cools it causes the liquid to be sucked back into the radiator. Sometimes there is a 2nd hose at the top which allows air/water to circulate and makes it easier to bleed the air out of the...

    overheating

What has probably happened is that due to the leak in the hose when the engine cools rather than pulling the liquid back out of the expansion tank its pulling in air through the leak instead. This air block reaches the water pump and stops it pumping the water properly so then engine starts to...

    overheating

It sounds like you have some air in the system which expands more with heat than liquid so pushes up into the expansion vessel. It must be stuck somewhere so try running the engine when it has cooled and squeeze the pipes etc... And make sure the heating is set to full.

AVI film jerky when played through usb on home cinema

Glad you are happy with them. I had tried a few others previously aswell but the WD one was the first to really play them smoothly. There are still quite a few avi or mkv files which can be juddery but that's normally down to poor encoding and not the player.

    Cables, Cables and more cables

What's the av receiver being used with? Newer ones do hdmi switching and I now only have the one hdmi to the tv. The hdmi from each device carries the audio straight to the receiver which is ideal for the xbox as it's a pain to get surround sound if you don't do it this way. Modern tvs will...

    overheating

I would need to see a photo to tell but the standard type is a jubulee (spelling?) clip which has a screw which you turn to tighten/loosen

    Cables, Cables and more cables

For a cable suitable for a notebook I would just put in a VGA cable. Your plasma has probably got a VGA socket and most other TVs have VGA inputs. If you are using a computer with a DVI output then you can just use an adapter.

Are you using a puncture repair kit?

    overheating

Yes that would probably work. Another product is called 'Aquaseal' and designed for repairing RIB boats. You should be able to get it from a chandlers.

I expect the hose is too flexible for the radweld to work. The only thing I can think of which might work is 'black witch' which is a rubber glue. Not sure where to get it but a scuba diving shop might be your best bet if you have one locally.

    XBox/PS3 as Media Device

You do need virgin cable in order to have the TiVo box. The ps3 and xbox are ok for streaming. I assume you want it to stream tv only and not interested about playing files from a memory stick for example?

I would imagine somewhere like gsf car parts or euro car parts would be your best bet.

    diy aircon kits

They are not worth it in my opinion. A full drain and recharge is much better as the new gas includes lubricant for the compressor. If the compressor fails it costs a lot of money to replace.
