Potterton Profile 50e switches on then off again

The PCBs in these boilers are also renowned for problems (web / DIYNOT search). Same boiler, I developed a noisy fluttering gas valve. Huge (obviouse to the eye) dry joint on gas valve circuit. Digressing though; I guess he needs to check for pump overrun 1st for his symptoms.

Potterton Profile 50e switches on then off again

I had same problem some years ago with same boiler. Had worked fine for about 20 years with just the very odd boiler overheat stat tripping in harsh winters. Then got that symptoms most of the time. Turned out the boiler had never been wired to overrun even though it is capable of being wired...

    Multi Tool - Bargain ?

I used mine a lot yesterday and I don't recognise the symptoms you describe. I also used the plunge cut in chip board which is very hard (tools recommended for soft woods) and all was fine; no cut outs, all felt fine, sounded fine, looked fine and did the job.

    Multi Tool - Bargain ?

Just seen a ROCKWELL 12V Li-ion Cordless Multi Tool in local Diy shed for £29.99. 50 piece set with 2 batteries and carry bag. Came home to research; a few on Ebay for £50 and £79.99. Reviews are from abroad so this may be new to UK - hence sale price listing from £99.99 to £49.99 to £29.99...

indesit iwe91281 can't turn collection bit

Probably your 1st instinct and the error code i.e. something stuck in it. Try jiggling it back and forth or laying the machine down on its side and trying again. Failing that, remove pump and dismantle.

Pump speed and boiler cut out

I had what sounds like very similar symptoms some years ago on a Potterton, the clicking (very loud and sometimes erratic - so difficult to pin down a scenario) turned out to be the gas valve opening, closing, opening. Could be a single drop off and on again, or a rapid 'stutter'. Fault was a...

    Crown water softener overflow

Fair enough on your comments on your findings on this brand, but as with anything, check the obvious first. But I do wonder that if you have fitted the overflow merely to go onto the floor, where the drain may be trying to go !

    Crown water softener overflow

If its got a high level of water in it, possibly its not drained after flushing filters. Have you checked the drain ?

    Wasted Silicones & Adhesives

Just let it go hard in the nozzle which will keep the silicone in the tube fresh. Then when ready to use again, unscrew and discard that nozzle and just screw a new one on. They are relatively pricey at around £1 for a pack of 3 but a lot cheaper that throwing good silicone away and much easier...

    Replacing Mechanical Thermostat with Digital

What you plan to do eddie is fine, your replacing a dumb switch with another switch which has a bit of logic in it. As said earlier, as long as the programme function, whatever that may be, at the boiler end, allows you to have heating switched on 24HRs a day, then that powers your new...

Problem drilling UPVC sliding patio door to fit lock

Thanks again John. I stopped drilling into the aluminium frame as none of the product reviews of the lock had mentioned it so I thought maybe I had something different. They all said things like; 'took 2 minutes to install'. Well this bolt hole is going to take longer than that to drill, even...
