    Central heating leak - frustrating!

leakydave is spot on, water can travel a long way along joists, pipes etc before 'showing' itself. My best used method in the past for trying to identify the source of such a leak as this is talcum powder, with a puff ball i.e. can blow a fine cloud out rather than shaking it from the can...

What to put at the end of a bath ?

Why not just fit a bath of the right length to fill the gap. They come in all lengths and widths, thousands online or look in the brouchers in the stores.

Bathroom basin leaking from basin/waste pipe joint

Common problem. You need what is commonly referred to as a basin mate, like this one here (other stores stock it too); http://reviews.diy.com/2191-en_gb/11478125/reviews.htm The black piece is a very flexible connector which gets squeezed around the drain pipe as you tighten up the connector.

Bosch Classixx 1200 express, door jammed, no sound

Not sure about your model but some Basch have a flap at the front bottom. Inside there is a tag that you can pull to open door. Failing that, get some stripped wire, slide it between door and machine body where the door catch is. Pull it all the way back, top and bottom to where the hinge is...

Siemens Lady Dishwasher -element remains hot when finished

Does it stay that way forever ? The elements stay that way at the end of the wash cycle to act as the final drying cycle, so if your opening it up straight after its finished, that will be the case. Best keep it closed until it cools to maximise the heat for drying.

Standard 'speedfit' are rated for domestic water temprature and not central heating. Why not use Hep2o fittings !

    shower seat removal

I haven't fitted this specific one but if there are no apparent screw covers that can be removed it may be that screws were fixed into the wall and the seat was pushed down vertically onto them i.e. look underneath to see if you can see guide channels that have been pushed down onto the wall...

my bathroom extractor fan lets the cold air in!

Agree with rjm2k, those types are available fo most configurations i.e. round, square, big, small. Plus you may want to consider this range (ICON brand, there may be others) of fans as they have a self closing Iris which only opens up when the fan is running, shown half open here.

    Boundary hedge

If its your hedge you can do what you like with it. If its the neighbours the rule is; if its overhanging into your garden, you can cut it off but legally you have to offer the cuttings to your neighbour as its their property. But rather than go that route after you have cut it, why not talk to...

    installing shower (different location)

You don't have to lift the boards to make a decision based on which way the joists go; boards go 90 degrees to the joists (otherwise most of the boards would have no support).

Electric cooker with no plug help please

With the level of knowledge display in your post I would definitely say - get an electrician, probably 1 hour or less. Having said that, so that you understand a little more......... Do NOT put a plug on it, it is illegal and very dangerous. At best you will blow the fuse (13A in a plug -...

Can I plug Satellite signal directly into a digital TV

As the subject says (and proves my ignorance of these things); I have a spare cable from my satellite LNB. Can this be plugged directly into a digital TV to receive the digital channels ? I obviously have no idea what comes out of an LNB so don't want to purchase a digital TV if this won't work...

Washing machine pipes appear mixed up

Connect them the correct way round. If your correct, the m/c is heating cold water for all washes, not a problem in itself as most machines only take in hot water for the very hot washes 60 degree plus, but, your rinsing everything with hot water. 1) Your wasting a lot of hot water. 2) Cold...

Help diagnosing Bosch Washing Machine problem

A lot depends on which model this is for example the latest Loggixx models have brushless motors, they use the more expensive perm magnets. If its a Loggixx model, does the drum turn at all, even very slowly when you are expecting the spin ? These models will do this if they have a very uneven...

Help - Water Leak in the Kitchen!!!

Talcum powder that you can squeeze the bottle to puff a fine cloud out. Start at the area where the water puddles and work outwards following the trail where it soaks up the water. Or do the whole area and wait to see where the trail takes you. You can even put it up the walls on the pipes, etc...
