So to throw a new factor in the mix! We have a tiny bit of skirting visible (its actually dado rail)along with some pipe box work and a ratty back door these are all bare wood finished with water based varnish. Mrs T has suggested that they, along with the radiator would look nice painted in...

kitchen wall paint- Eggshell or soft sheen.

ARRRGGGH I had just decided on eggshell, went into Johnstones to discuss the colour codes and they suggested cleanable matt. I had a look on some of the reviews and it seems pretty good. As you say Matt is very good at hiding bad plastering etc. as our house nearly 200years old it doesnt have...

kitchen wall paint- Eggshell or soft sheen.

Thanks for that. that goes with my thinking but goes against JohnD's thoughts. when you talk about the finish (using the the foam roller) are you referring to the finish via the roller (orange peel effect) or the actual paint finish/sheen? Thanks

Thanks for that. I thought eggshell was wipeable? To be fair there is only one area that gets splashed a fair bit. Have just see Johntones do a matt could everlast that is supposed to be durable and wipeable.

kitchen wall paint- Eggshell or soft sheen.

Hi All Our kitchen has been painted in Johnstones durable matt. It looks nice but is not very hard wearing at all. I am looking at repainting it (same colour so would prefer Johnstones) and am not sure which would be better Soft sheen or Eggshell. I know that eggshell will be tougher but more...

    Miniflex vs Flexcon

Hi all I am getting a leak between my waste pipes. I have worked out that the final waste (that goes through the outer brick wall is not perfectly in lined with the rest of the pipe run, so it leaks from the join at a T piece. I was thinking of inserting a flexible pipe in the run so that the...

Wago connector with 0.75mm braided cable

Plugwash. Sorry - The cable is the "antique style 2 wires braided and twisted" the core are indeed stranded. It says min size 1.5mm stranded, hen the reason about increasing the width by either twisting two or soldering. There will be no strain at all on the cables and the box will sit on the...

Wago connector with 0.75mm braided cable

Hi all I am building a spider light with 7 outputs. So I need to join the switched supply to 7 lots of cable. This cable is 0.75mm braided cable. I was intending to use 2 of 773-108 24A 8-Way Push-Wire Connectors but just saw that it only accepts 1.5mm braided cable. Is there an alternative...

Hi all We have a very large decking area to the rear off the house (long story as to how we ended up getting it!). Sadly the rear of the house is the main entrance. Now autumn and winter are on the way it is turning very very slippy. As its now to wet to paint/varnish we are looking at some...
