how to get a slope on a box gutter

It would be better if no water was holding, especially if its lead, ie contraction of the lead due to different temperatures causing splits, if the op is using lead, he might need to consider fitting some steps in the valley.

You can buy Firring strips already cut from most builders/roofers yard.

    EPDM roof question

If the rubber was punctured it is very easy to repair. Get a metre of 225mm wide form flash and small tin of primer, cut the form flash to size and cover hole/split.

    cost of stove install- resonable?

The better grade of liner is 904/904 then 904/316 then 316/316, so there will be price differences on the liner prices. Some installers recommend insulation, some don't as when the liner isn't insulated the tar etc rattles of the liner easier when cleaning. You might find you need an adapter...

    diy epdm roofing

Id use 18mm T&G OSB3 boards, that way you will have an even finish, ie no discrepancy showing on the joints. If you are using it as a balcony lay walk way mats over the epdm.

Garage facelift with upvc cladding and one felt topping?

The new green mineral isn't going to stick very good over an existing roof with chippings, even if they were cleared of the surface would be to dusty.

Cost for Brick wall and steps

You still got it all done at a fair price.

    Soil stack

You would have to get on the roof to fit a cap, so you might as well remove it and slip a tile/slate back over.

removal of concrete render and repair of brickwork

Lead gulley leaks when heavy snow thaws

On your last photo looking along the valley, it seems like theres no under eaves. It would be a good idea to fit them, I wouldn't have thought you have enough lap over the lead, ie the 2nd row might only just be covering the lead upstands.

Your advice on this flat roof

Looks like hes put to much heat into the felt, and the detail work isn't the neatest.

    Flat roofing round roof outlets

You need to fit the outlets before felting otherwise you will form a high spot before the water can drain away.

Lead gulley leaks when heavy snow thaws

An eaves tile is slightly shorter in length and fitted directly under the first row of tiles. In effect you should see a double row of tiles.

rendering on parapet walls, but no flash cover?

With a bell cast bead over the lead flashing, prior to render.

Lead gulley leaks when heavy snow thaws

I agree with the above, you should have had some steps in the valley. Plus a lot neater job if he had used chase wedges to dress the lead in tighter to the edges.

Putting decking On Balcony Flat Roof

Firestone do rubber walkway pads designed to fit over epdm roofs, but you can use them over the felt roof. They will be a lot better than decking which would dig into the existing roof and cause more damage. Decking eventually rots and becomes slippy.

Re-pointing ridge tiles in below zero temps before the snow

I agree with the above, the ridge should have come of, re-bedded and pointed in one go. The chances are it will blow, plus it would have been better to hang on a few weeks until milder weather.

Flue through Valley - Need local trade to sort please!

Measure twice and cut once. As the proximity is close to the outer wall, wouldn't it have been better/easier to have brought the flue through outer wall at ground level and run the pipe up the wall. Saves a lot of hassle cutting through the ceilings/floors with all the fireproofing. But as...
