    Fixing large double rad to thermolite block wall.

    fix this sized rad quite offten on these walls. we drill 7mm hole without hammer on, use good quality brown plugs and use 12x4 screws (pz3 driver needed)

    speak to kamco, they have said in the past they can make up an inhibitor for gasey systems on request, maybe helpful to you.

    its quite common for this set up in a downstairs WC. Waste is installed before walls/screed so plumber has no say in the position. once he/she enters the plot. if the wall is block it may not be possible to get the waste into the wall with floor beams positions etc..... trouble is with new...

    Capping this boiler flue vent

    a bit of soil pipe with a mushroom cowl would probably do glued in the bitch mastic. you could the put a plug in the pipe to seal it.

    solvent weld may fit, but it must be upvc not abs if run outside. Toolsstations solvent is upvc. also look at universal compression fittings if you need to adapt from one size to another.

    bristan mixers are poor quality, there taps are better. grohe are ok. Aqualisa are good.

    hydro test pump will do it, hire shop or £30-£50 on ebay.

    pressure will rise when heating is on as wata expands when heated. how much it rises depends on the systems water volume and expansion vesell size, pressure. rising to 2 bar from 1.2 is normal for average sized system/ set up.

    Boiler flue through a cavity wall with insulation

    not a problem. when the new hole is cored for the new flue then some fibreglass can be inserted to stop beads contacting flue/ falling out. then once its plastered and cemented up its sealed.

    x800 is only effective for upto 24hrs. thats what i was told by sentinel techincal. x400 is better if leaving in for a few days/week.

    poor install, not enough clips, no lagging etc.... prob not the reason you have noises. more likely a tap or float valve causing the noise.

    national grid do repipe and normally with to smaller pipework from my experience. Serviced a boiler 2 years running, second year gas meter had been moved with a new main installed and the boilers inlet pressure was 2mb lower than the year before.

    Cold water mains supply...

    your internal pipework will not be cast iron. you want a builder/ ground worker to fit the water main and a plumber to replace/connect it up inside with a new stop tap. make sure its insulated if not 750mm down and inside the building.

    To Durgo or not to Durgo

    you can get external durgos that can also be fitted below the flood level and are rated to -20 degrees. This does not mean its the best idea tho and i would be insisting the vent stay as it is.
