Combi boiler with accessible pressure valve

Yes i use the main boilers, but have had a few duotecs on gov schemes. I will prob look at the main again. Im not replacing any duotecs, just fitting a new boiler install on a new flat i have ripped out. No gas on this property so had a new gas feed put in by the network. Now its time to get...

Combi boiler with accessible pressure valve

That’s a typo. Repressurise. I must have the baxi netatec then as it was a pain to re pressure for the engineer on service. If they are all serviceable then that’s good.

Combi boiler with accessible pressure valve

I’ve got some baxi boilers and some have the expansion vessel valve easily accessible. But on another boiler it is located at the top of the boiler case and it makes it harder to depressurise. All these boilers are duotecs but one has this issue. Anyway I need to get a new boiler and it must...

Changing large cast gutter to plastic

I noticed some flash band type repair on the gutter when I was doing a new roof window. If this is finlock what does that mean. It will be original from 1890

Changing large cast gutter to plastic

We need to paint this cast iron gutter and do all the facia boards as they havent been done for ages. The cast gutter leaks quite badly at the joints and so this needs addressing. I am not sure of the size of the gutter as i havent been up there yet, but i was wondering if it might not be...

    Attaching to a slate vent

Ah ha, a possible solution. Could I not stay in rectangular from the extractor all the way to the slate vent. This is the bit I am not sure about, but I will look at the rectangular stuff. Thanks

    Attaching to a slate vent

It’s a big standard extractor hood for a hob. So the same dimension as 100mm extraction tubing diameter. I need to go from this to the back of the slate vent. The adapter works normally but in this case I need to see if I can find something less chunky.

This is the back of slate vent without adapter

    Attaching to a slate vent

This adapter connects on to normal ventilation tube which attaches to the extractor. It is to big and really I need to bypass this and fit direct onto the vent slate BUT this is shaped in an oval shape, hence you use this adapter. I just wondered if there was an alternative diy version I...

    Attaching to a slate vent

Is there a different product I can use to attach to my slate vent. The position of the extractor hood is being compromised by the size of the adapter. Ideally I would do away with the adapter and fit a flexi tube to it, but the connection is an oblong shape. I am going to end up having to use...

Glueing vinyl tiles on new build floors

I use the TLC branded planks which are a vinyl system recreating wood floors. Normally i will over board older tongue and groove floors, so i have always had a new clean surface to work on. My mate wants me to lay this down on his new build and he has the caber type flooring down. Do you...

    Fitting aerial inside

I have my own aerial and mounting one on the chimney is not a hard job as access out onto the roof is easy. My issue is threading the cable through the roof space. It looks like i will need to go in through the ridge caps possibly. The whole flat is open as you can see, so just got to work...

    Fitting aerial inside

Yes doing 75mm between the rafter and 50mm under. On the walls it will be 75mm. The tower is so close to this property. It is a few hundred meters away as the crow flies and is on a hill looking down on this street. So the signal is strong.

    Fitting aerial inside

I know you can have an aerial in the loft, but is there any distance from a wall it needs to be set away from ? I have a tightish cupboard area which will hold the boiler, washing machine and fuse board on a flat i am renovating. I was thinking of putting the aerial in there as well. The...

Boiler pressure dropped today (after i charged it)

No I didn’t I think I closed off the drain point and then pumped up. I tested the pressure in the EV last night and it was at 1.75 bar. This is the pressure of the boiler I think. I didn’t see any water coming out of the valve. Is it common for the EV to go aged 15 yrs? I could change it...
