    Rebuild Window Bay?

Thanks for the feedback - in the end i removed it altogether and put a flat window in. In this case, the roof frame was solid - just the trim was rotten and bottom brick work had nothing holding them together other then the weight of the window board. The whole bottom was loose which allowed...

Hey, I had a similar problem with the RX1 at the weekend - The thermostat was paired and functioning, the light on the RX1 even came on, The light on prog 1 comes on, zone value starts opening, 5 seconds later, the relay clicks and the zone value closes again... not sure if you are getting the...

    Rebuild Window Bay?

Hi all, I have a window bay that has tilted outwards, above a porch. I'm thinking of taking the whole lot off, and start again? The roof is rotten, and i can see a couple of loose bricks under the support. The wood under the window also looks like some is rotten, inside is upvc'd so cant see...

Second CU, where to mount and what cable to run?

But the legs from the CU to the first floor also need to be replaced - or are you suggesting I use the existing red/black wires from the CU (slieved as blue/brown) to the first floor and then use blue/brown from there for the rest of the loop?

Second CU, where to mount and what cable to run?

Thanks @AndyPRK the switch fuse is similar to what i had linked a couple of posts back, so thanks for confirming i'm on the right track!. Re the 1st floor circuits, Both the first floor sockets and lights and loft sockets and lights are old wiring, with sockets in wrong places etc, so need to...

Second CU, where to mount and what cable to run?

Based on shading etc Most likely i'd need to put in micro inverters, so power going up and down the cable will be 230v AC - so normal mains.

Second CU, where to mount and what cable to run?

ok - Just ran the calculator on TLC website (for what its worth) and it also came back as 10mm at 50 degrees, pulling 8kw over 14m is sufficient. I guess I'm being over cautions! like you have said @EFLImpudence normally that would be a 20a or 32A breaker for the whole floor + 6A lighting and...

Second CU, where to mount and what cable to run?

@ericmark 63Amp, may be more then needed, but I guess having slightly more available on the first floor is better then not having enough? Something like this: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/CGFS100.html Using just the 63A fuse? @EFLImpudence loft and first floor - granted the heavy...

Second CU, where to mount and what cable to run?

If I go down the 16mm route, Can I use the armour as earth or is it better to get 3 core and use one of them as earth?

Second CU, where to mount and what cable to run?

@JohnD I have an isolator already between the meter and the Henley block. For the second cu, I'd fit a second isolator after the Henley and an RCD+ mcb. The swa would then go out of the wall and to the second cu.

Second CU, where to mount and what cable to run?

Thanks for the replies, @Risteard The alternative is it's in the living space on the first floor, which becomes problematic once cupboards go in etc @JohnD the ground floor is solid, first floor is timber, as is the loft floor. The issue is the cupboard under the stairs comes out either on...

Second CU, where to mount and what cable to run?

I'm looking to put a second consumer unit in my loft, to feed the loft (lights, a couple of computers, network switch - nothing heavy), and the first floor (lights and sockets) of the house - No real easy way to run twin and earth within the house, and the existing wiring is black/red and well...
