    Push fit plumbing

I need to adjust the pipework on a rad' to accommodate cladding. My question is this: Can I replace the copper pipe which runs from the rad' to the adjacent wall with push fit fittings and associated pipework? At the adjacent wall, the copper pipe joins push fit, and plastic(?) pipe work, so it...

    Baxi Brazilia Wall Heater

They are easy enough to remove as you will find if you remove the front cover. There certainly should be a flue through to the outside wall, that will just pull through when you remove the heater. If you can't get at it from outside, you could just fill the hole on the inside. Do be sure that...

    Alternatives to skips

The best thing to use is the plastic bags that you buy sand/gravel etc in. Ask a local tradesman, they usually have a stash in a cupboard somewhere. What about hiring/buying a trailer also to get it to the tip. Or borrow/hire a van. Bear in mind also that council rubbish tips allow roughly 2...

    Draining central Heating system

Thanks masona. The plumber used push fit connections. I managed to unscrew them on one rad and I thought this would drain the system, however it didn't, the rad that I need to isolate hsa push connections but the don't unscrew. Is it a case of pulling these apart or not? Both rads are downstairs.

    Draining central Heating system

I cracked a nut on the microbore pipe leading to a rad' and need to drain the system. I don't know how to do it, can anyone advise? It's an Ariston Genus combi. No water tanks anywhere, mains fed. I am greeted with this array of pipes underneath the boiler but don't know what's what. Once...

    Noisy Neighbours

I should point out breezer that they have long gone, thank god, but we did involve the council who are as much use as a chocolate fireguard, they expected us to fill out a complaint book, recording every 'nuisance event' for 3 months......3 months! They clearly have no idea how long that is when...

    Noisy Neighbours

To paraphrase a TV advert: If only everything in life were that simple....... I explained that I didn't appreciate the bass bouncing through the party wall, very politely, subsequently followed by not so politely. Do you think it worked? Of course it didn't. If they were reasonable people...

    Oh No, sticking doors!

The french doors that have been fitted catch at the bottom following the rain. (I hadn't glossed although I had primed and undercoated) Are the doors doomed or can I get around this nightmare? :?

    Wiring Issue

Breezer, I went to take a live feed from the rose but although there were 3 neutral and 3 earth, there was only one live (switched at that) so I'm not sure what to do next. I tried to connect my downlighters but of course they would only work when the main light (rose feed) was on. Any advice?

    Downlighters

For my next trick in the kitchen/D room refurb. I'm adding 3 downlighters in the ceiling over a work top. My question is this: Should I link the wiring into the existing light at the rose (although I want it to operate from an independant switch) or, run a new cable linked into the existing...

    Wickes French Doors

Thanks Masona What I did in the event was to shave off one of the two raised edges on the demi panel, this was just enough to get the thing closed, it won't be seen nor will it interfere with the draught proof strip. Pain in the backside though all in all.

Help needed on painting lining paper please...

you shouldn't see them except on really close inspection, provided your paper hanging is good and you butt the pieces together.

    Wickes French Doors

When closed the hinges are not flush but kick apart slightly towards the pinned edge. I know where you're going I think, I looked at every hinge in B&Q warehouse (and Wickes huge stock!) and couldn't find any 4" hinges that closed flat. (which struck me as being the problem. It strikes me...
