    difference in pump sizes

I have a couple of radiators that were fitted to an extension. They have always been very slow to heat up and since my new boiler (a Worcester Bosch 40 cdi) was fitted one is almost cold. I also have a very very long run of radiators from one end of the house to the other. He suspects that I...

    difference in pump sizes

Hi - I have been told today, by a different gas engineer that I have a 15-50 central heating pump and that as I have 22 radiators it is insufficient and it should be upgraded to a 15-60. My question is would a 15-60 pump be sufficient or would I need to go for something even larger...

Some radiators cold at bottom following power flush

Hi again. Following the installation of my new boiler, a power flush and the fitting of a Magnaclean system, I am finding that some of my radiators are ice cold at the bottom and hot at the top. In my living room I only have one radiator working properly. I thought this problem was...

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

Thank you for clarifying that Corgigrouch. I am absolutely appalled that both my Gas Engineer and the Gas supply people have just walked away from it. The Manager from the gas supplier came to see me - so he could have closure - and told me that he couldn't put a bigger pipe in and that...

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

I am now a little worried. I have found a technical training bulletin issued by Worcester Bosch regarding supply pipe sizing. It says that i there is a run of pipe of 5 meters - which I have - with 5 elbows and 1 tee - I have nine elbows - then the pipe size should be 28mm. The gas...

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

I was a little annoyed with him because when I gave him the information he became rather stroppy and suggested I should have told him sooner (as if I was wasting his time). I thought he should know such things as Gas Safe told me that RGI's all get the bulletins and he should know. I had...

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

Hm - well the gas supplier installed 1" pipe. They told me that was as big as it could go as the outlet from the meter wouldn't take anything larger, and what do I know :? If there isn't sufficient gas supply to the boiler what is the outcome of this? All I know is that I have a...

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

A new governor was installed along with the new meter by the gas supplier. As far as I know the installer didn't do anything, every time there was a problem he just called the gas supplier. I don't think he 'played' with the governor but couldn't be 100% sure of that.

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

Update. Well after having a new pipe from the mains supply to the meter put in (drive dug up and awaiting reinstatement), a new meter, new larger bore pipe work from the new meter to the boiler I was still not getting the 18 mb pressure at the boiler recommended by Worcester. The mad thing...

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

Hi, I had two managers come out and they were, surprisingly, really nice and very helpful! They assured me that the problem would be fixed and that they would have a team out on Monday to connect a new pipe from my meter to the gas main. They said that I had a pressure at the meter of 19 and...

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

I have just heard that the Manager of the gas supply team is coming out to have a look this morning. Just wondered what questions I should ask?

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

Hi twgas - the meter was originally right behind the boiler - other side of the wall. The meter has now been moved outside my garage and a new pipe put in through the garage and up to the old inlet into the boiler housing. I will ask the gas supplier if the working pressure at the meter has...

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

To be fair the old boiler was 20 years old, it was a Potterton Kingfisher and never once gave any trouble in all that time. I guess the boiler was installed when the house was built and I have been told that because of the type of boiler it was it didn't need so much pressure, have also been...

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

Thank you. Unfortunately I have already paid the Gas Engineer. He says responsibility lies with Southern Gas but I am really worried that they will turn round and tell me that they have done everything they can. Apparently the boiler needs a gas pressure of 18 to be commissioned and the...

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

Hi - please please I need some advice. Four weeks ago I had a service on my boiler done under my Homecare agreement with British Gas and they disconnected my boiler because it was spilling. Two weeks later (BG not having done anything - supplied estimate for new boiler etc) I contracted a...
