Oak Chest Of Drawers - Can It Be Bought Flatpack?

Ok cheers I seen something i like on that site but other stores say no assembly required, like you said its maybe just the finishing touches. The oak bedside cabinets i bought needed the handles screwed on.

New Wooden Headboard Needs Split In 2 Professionally, Joiner Or DIY?

If you made any horizontal cuts you would need to cut the same from every slat, the way i have cut it means 2 cuts and lose a couple of mm. Thanks the cut came out good. I want to concentrate on getting it rebuilt now in my bedroom then ill see about covering the joint somehow.

Thanks for the compliment, im glad at 47 and i use reading glasses, that i can still cut in a straight line. ;) Yes its a strengthening piece, is strange how i cut down the middle yet my cut was right on the edge of the strengthening piece. I did not want to take a chance as my blades are old...

ok i cut it in half using a hacksaw on the bottom rail and a tenon saw on the top rail. The top rail is hollow so no dowels can be used. Screwing a board on the back is probably the way to go. image search image search image search image search image search

I dont have any transport that would take my headboard. I dont mind doing the cut, its 60mm wide so quite thick. I could try and fit a few dowels accurately on each joining face. I can find something to cover the joint. It wont be in the middle as the slats dont allow that, i can worry about...

New Wooden Headboard Needs Split In 2 Professionally, Joiner Or DIY?

That is my thoughts too. It looks like a vertical cut on the top and bottom boards is the way to go. Perhaps screwing a thick bit of hardwood over each joint and as suggested some vertical support for rigidity. I could put glue in the joint to disguise the gap, it will pull apart easy enough in...

Oak Chest Of Drawers - Can It Be Bought Flatpack?

As per my other thread regarding splitting my headboard to get it up my stairs, im now looking for a flatpack chest of drawers made from decent oak wood, i dont want ikea quality and i dont mind if its pricey. I already sent a 4 drawer chest back as it wont go up, a 3 drawer would not fit either...

The headboard is on its side. You can see how thick the slats are and they dont look like they will pull out easy either. click image upload This is a view of the side, no joints are obvious on any of the faces. click image upload

New Wooden Headboard Needs Split In 2 Professionally, Joiner Or DIY?

Yes its an optical illusion alright. I will buy a new hand saw for the job and try and follow some sort of guide. What your suggesting sounds ok however im concerned the slats wont come off very easily, they are thick and look like they are well glued in to, i would maybe end up doing more...

New Wooden Headboard Needs Split In 2 Professionally, Joiner Or DIY?

Good idea. I think to get a nice straight cut, get a new blade for the jigsaw and g-clamp a guide to the headboard, that should give a thin cut and a nice straight line. The room to the right is my back door porch and i have tried starting from there, it just wont fit up the stairs, know it...

windows are too small im afraid Good idea an there is handrails but it would not give me enough room to get it round the steep turn. No other fittings to remove also. Its the bottom of the stairs i cant get round, after that its easy. Thanks and halving the headboard would be fine to get it...

If i did do that i would need to reduce all the rails as well, thats why i thought cutting it vertically would avoid that problem and lose a few mm horizontally. Yes making it easy to dismantle is another great idea many thanks. Are you calling the footboard a baseboard? Its just the headboard...
