I bought a multimeter so should be able to do it. Not read up on how to measure that across a heater element yet though!

Thanks for that. Any actual advice? I don't think theres anything else I can check without being qualified now...

    Unvented immersion elements

Hey guys, Got around to getting a multimeter and testing it. The resistance across the element was about 180 ohms (0.018 on 2k) The resistance across the thermostat terminals was 20 ohms (0.2 on 200) I think im reading it right, but it still doesnt help me figure out why its not...

The top element is working fine! So maybe its not the stat afterall as you quite rightly put if it was too hot BOTH stats would trigger.

You'd have thunk that! But the installation has been registered. If its not been done right then he wont have a leg to stand on legally speaking! He was pretty sound so I'd rather give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm still fairly naive about the unvented system so maybe I'm missing...

    Finishing off a downstairs toilet

You cant see it in the picture, but there is some more boxing running along the wall to the main stack. The isolation value is there (and accessible).

    Finishing off a downstairs toilet

Hey guys, I ripped out the old downstairs loo recently, tiled and boarded everything so that no pipes were visible. I'm at a bit of a xroads though with what to do next. I've fixed the toilet and the sink, although I haven't water tested them (the boards are off at the mo). I need the...

I spoke to the installer whos predictably busy. He agrees theres no thermal cut off. I'm a bit concerned that if this was regulation does my installation breach it given its only a year old? He said I should be able to replace the thermostat myself. I'm fairly comfortable with simple...

Its absolutely minimal, but definitely a little bit wet at the bottom of the element. Well, its a year old from Plumbnation. So I'd have expected not; but ultimately you never know...

I took the cover off, but I couldn't see anything that resembles a thermal cut off! Its a Gledhill slimline. Also, there seems to be a very small amount of water escaping

Cheers for the info guys! Turns out the top element is OK - i thought the boost programme (the timer rather than just pressing the button for an hr) ran on upper element - i ran it this evening and i've got some hot water. Sounds like I can use this as a workaround until I can get my hands...

    Unvented immersion elements

Morning guys, We lost our lower element over the weekend, but the boost was working. However, this has incidentally stopped working too this morning. The system is only a year old, but I know elements failing is quite a common occurrence; I was surprised both would go so quickly. The boost...
