EPDM is a single ply rubber material, Look it up on the net......you'll be surprised. 30+ Years it lasts, i'd always go with this material on a flat roof, Cost can differ with location but up here in Birmingham the cost is around the £60-£120 a sq mt. It just depends on how much you look...

Were the quotes for felt? If so I'd say thats expensive IMO, You'd get EPDM for around the same price surely?

You want to double check he's replacing it with Felt or EPDM, Its 2 differant materials. EPDM is a rubber with a life expectancy of around 30+ years.

so you do the whole box in tape? some boxes can be rather big. Isn't it best to use offcuts of rubber then seal?

How do you rubber and waterproof any boxes on a flat roof? the ones that conceal any pipes coming out the wall etc?

Wouldn't take long to just 'tile' the roof. A decent roofer possibly 1-2 days - Weather permitting! And like woody said, Day rate or price work can all come into the equation.

Try adding some PVA glue and some rapid hardener!

EPDM Is a lot better than felt, Lasts a lot longer to, As to thickness, It's not very thick at all. Why does the thickness matter?

Correct, If it can be used as a pond liner, it's going to keep out water as well.......If fitted correctly. Another good thing is if it splits you simply patch the affected section. I'm yet to see any real problems with it.

The cost does vary by company. I wouldn't like to put a price on it TBH. As you said the cost will be much greater, However you'll not need to replace it again in your lifetime. Well worth the money and looks a lot better than felt.

If the insulation is ply backed than yes thats fine. The EPDM i fit is fleece backed so when used with the deck adhesive bonds very well.

Similar yes, The Firestone hasn't got fleece backing. I fit a EPDM with a fleece backing and don't come ready cut. It comes in rolls and the fitters cut it to shape.
