    Fence Advice

Hi guys, I am desperate for some advice on this. I recently bought my property. It seems the neighbour next door is housing association or council and isn't taking great care of their property at all compared to me. They are leaving their dog in the garden for most of the day and it is digging...

    Cleaning oil from drive

Thank guys, both really good suggestions. The drive was dry this morning as it had not rained over night and I am almost there with it. I will have another go at weekend with pressure washer and rest of the cleaner I have. If this doesn't quite do it, I will go and collect some of the Screw Fix...

    Cleaning oil from drive

I had a go this morning with a pressure washer I bought from work. It has been raining all morning, but once it has dried a little, I will reassess the situation. I also now have a wire brush from work which may well. Help. Updates to follow! :D

    Installing CCTV to loft

Thank you! I had been thinking over all of the best options. I thought by having them slightly further down the wall, I wouldn't need such a long ladder to maintain them and clean lenses etc. Ahah, now I had had this idea to start with, but two things put me off.. Getting back up to clean...

    Cleaning oil from drive

Thanks everyone. That collection tray is ideal and I had been looking at those, but, all being well, the car is going next week for a shiny new one, so I won't need to worry about any more oil drips. Will see if I can get my hands on some concentrated traffic film remover or Jizer. The only...

    Installing CCTV to loft

Hi there, I am looking to install some CCTV to my new house. Having installed some cameras inside at work, I am familiure with how to set them up, I would be using POE ones so just one ethernet wire required. I was thinking about installing the camera in either of the red dots (these are high...

    Air ventilation in kitchen fail

With the kitchen being so small, I thought a vent on the extractor would have been be best bet personally. The MHRV seems to do well in the bathroom when taking a shower on a cold day, so it does seem to be running as expected. I had been tempted to get some of those smoke sticks the builders...

    Cleaning oil from drive

Hi there, My car has been poorly and has been dripping quite substantial amounts of oil on my drive. I put down sand for the past month and a half to help soak it up, but it doesn't seem to have done too well. I am doing my best to replace the car, but this takes time, so likely to still get...

    Air ventilation in kitchen fail

Hello, looking for some advice. I have been in my new build property for 8 months. The kitchen has an extractor above the hob but it re-circulates the air - really pointless. I have an MVHR system in the house which comprises of one air vent in the ceiling of my kitchen. My kitchen is tiny...

Texecom Wireless Odyssey X-W Bell Box Permanent Power

Thanks, that's really helpful. Second link looks the best to me. We have loads of those units at work. I will have an ask, there might even be a spare one knocking about. There will be no issues with people getting access. It is right up high near the gutter, so they would need a long ladder.

Texecom Wireless Odyssey X-W Bell Box Permanent Power

Thanks everyone for your posts. Dannyboi, that is interesting. What sort of PSU did you use with battery backup? I am tempted to go for this. It is up on the wall outside, but I kept it close to a gutter pipe, so could easily run some table down from the corner of the roof, along gutter pipe and...

Texecom Wireless Odyssey X-W Bell Box Permanent Power

Thanks both. To be honest, the money isn't the big issue. Running a cable from the downstairs cupboard up into the loft is going to be almost impossible as the builders don't appear to have left any access holes and the plaster board is right up against breeze block meaning channeling would need...

Texecom Wireless Odyssey X-W Bell Box Permanent Power

Hi there, I have a wireless Texecom intruder alarm. I bought Kit-0002 Premier Elite 64-W. A fully wire free system. I had wanted to install my control panel in the loft, but decided against it as several people on this forum suggested it would potentially over heat in the summer. The bell box...

    Problems with fused spur backbox

Thanks for all of the advice guys. Try as I might, the back box was not coming out. I don't know what they had done, but it was just tearing the plaster board apart trying to get it off. Have taken several other back boxes off in the house, with no issue at all. Here is the final result, I...

    Problems with fused spur backbox

Thanks very much, really appreciate that. Have tried with everything I have and it is not budging. They have got it in there so tight it is unbelievable.

    Problems with fused spur backbox

I have managed to use a hammer and screwdriver to get one of the knockthroughs off and it looks as though it is thick plasterboard the same thickness as the depth of the backbox. There is then breezeblock behind backbox so my plan is not going to work. Going to have to get one of these and run...

    Problems with fused spur backbox

Yes there were two, have taken them both off. Have tried with knives, screwdrivers, not budging. Running an electrical cable / stud detector across the wall is suggesting it is smack bang where a stud would be.

    Problems with fused spur backbox

Hi there, Having real difficulty getting through the knockthroughs on this backbox in a new build. I am trying to install some cable for an intruder alarm control box. Wanted to run the cable for it behind the plasterboard where possible so it can't be tampered with. I have a fused spur as...

Installing security alarm panel in loft

Thanks ever so much for taking the time to post. Yes, the internet connector is a Smart Com. I had not really thought about heat in the loft. Internet is not an issue as I actually have an AP up in the loft. But yes, heat could be an issue. Maybe I should just use the fused spur in the cupboard...
