Visually spindles only look evenly spaced if they are . Spacing should be under 100mm for safety . I would glue and also use panel pins to secure ( easy to punch in the heads)

Worth checking pan for damage , I fitted a pan which kept leaking only to find it had a tiny hole in the flush inlet , replaced it.

It will be fine just clean before laying flooring .Silicon not required .
