Replacing Randall 972s - Is there a wireless solution?

Hi guys, I'd be pleased of your advice. I have a conventional boiler with a Honeywell 3-way diverter (wretched thing). Additionally I have two zone valves to control heating at the front of the house upstairs and downstairs separately. I have one Randall 972 controlling the HW/CH and another...

    Loft Ladder With Closable Hatch?

If you still want to add that lid inside your loft then you may want to have a look at this:- http://www.ladders4sale.co.uk/pdfs/products/138.pdf (oh, is it OK to post a link?- I have no association with this firm whatsoever - just found the product while surfing for a suitable loft ladder for...

    Enlarging loft access

Many thanks Tony, both for the advice on screw sizes and pilot holes and for the brilliant drawing which is exactly how I was trying to describe things. I was thinking of considerably thicker screws and I was concerned they might split the joist, but I'm now reassured that you think a couple of...

    Enlarging loft access

Hi, I'm planning to install a timber loft ladder in a 1900s end terrace house and will need to enlarge the loft hole. I've read what I can from other posts about doing this but would still value some advice. The ceiling joists are 4 X 2s with a spacing of about a foot giving an adequate existing...

FTA and RLED terminals in PIR

Thanks Scott and Alarm. I shall leave the FTA terminal alone and use only one PIR per zone. I've got eight zones from the panel and two each from the two keypads so with five PIRs and three Magnetic Door contacts there shouldn't be any trouble. I'd imagined that folk used several PIRs on one...

FTA and RLED terminals in PIR

Right thanks for that Scott. Looks like the FTA terminal is best left disconnected but that if I wanted to run two PIRs in the same zone and wanted information about which had triggered first I’d need to run a lead from one of the output terminal on the Premier 24 control panel to that...

FTA and RLED terminals in PIR

I hope I've not submitted this twice in the last few minutes. I so my sincere apologies. I’m fitting my first alarm. It is a Premier 24 with 8 zones, two LCD remote keypads and I’m using Texecom Prestige QD PIRs. I'm intending to use EOL wiring. I’m sorry if I’m asking stupid questions but I...

Magnetic door contact - two reed switches

Ah thank you Alarm. Yes two operations from the single unit makes sense. However I don't really understand what access control is. I imagined it used door locks which were opened by a swipe cards, keypad and the like and I can't quite see how a reed switch can do anything but be an on/off input.

Magnetic door contact - two reed switches

I'm fitting my first burglar alarm and for magnetic door contacts have purchased FC509MT2 Made by CQR without realising that the 2 at the end indicates that it has two reed switches. My inclination is to use only one but I would be pleased to know what the extra one is intended for. Both reeds...
