Will creating 2 vents solve loft moisture problem?

When it's very cold, moisture drips from the felt under the tiles of the roof. It could be up to 50 years old (70's house) so it will not be breathable. No issues whatsoever during the heaviest rainfall. Currently, there does not seem to be any source of fresh air (no eaves providing this) so...

Extractor fan activated by other lights in the house

Solved! While I don't deny there might still be a mis-wire somewhere, I changed the "Blauberg" branded fan with a Manrose one and the issue stopped presenting itself.

Extractor fan activated by other lights in the house

More help please! I looked at swapping the fan and check the wires were not live after switching off the isolator but ALL THREE are live? The tester glows stronger with the isolator switched on, but there is clearly still current going through the constantly. Could the fan and light connection...

How to improve air extraction system

I bought a house made in the 70s and just the top floor bathroom had mechanical air extraction via a vertical pipe through to the roof. During renovation, I extended the pipe using underground brown pipe and fittings to allow for air extraction from: Ground floor shower bathroom (centrifugal...

Keep secondary glazing when new double glazing is fitted?

I have two layers of sliding windows (original windows from 50 years ago). The two windows are separate, so one can be taken out while retaining the other. The ensuite bedroom faces in the direction of train tracks, but the noise is not too bad even with the windows open and totally acceptable...

Extractor fan activated by other lights in the house

Previously one cheap LED lamp was being lit so I put a better one in - that would explain that issue I guess.

Extractor fan activated by other lights in the house

When you say electronic switch, is that a light switch? If it is a line wire being mistaken for a neutral, would that limited to the light fitting associated with the fan or the whole lighting circuit it is part of? Thanks

Extractor fan activated by other lights in the house

My bathroom extractor fan is switching on when lights for other rooms are switched on. The extractor is on a switched live setting with an isolator switch. It happened after a couple of light fittings and a light switch were changed, so could someone advise if it's something as simple as the...

Hot water programmer with no volt cylinder sensor - recommendations?

Any suggestions of what product I could consider that my existing vented cylinder can use a low/no volt sensor that feeds to a mains programmer to tell it if the cylinder needs heating during timed periods? Drayton do the one below but with no option to programme when to heat the water e.g. 2...

System boiler with vented system (bodged new install, what next)

Previously had a WB Greenstar R28 HE System boiler with 4 pipes and vented (gravity fed) cylinder. No valves or pumps outside of the boiler. Worked fine for 20 years. Decided to change to Viessmann 050-W System boiler when WB failed but keep the same set up with cylinder. Gas Safe installer I...

    Install Second-hand boiler: thoughts please!

I know someone people don't think much of Which? reviews but they found in their Boiler Survey 2021, Vokèra came in second-to-last with an overall brand score of 50%. If one might think Which? got it wrong about Vokera, that means they have wrongly given Worcester too high rating? I've never...

    Install Second-hand boiler: thoughts please!

They seem to get decent reviews. Would you say they are midrange quality? Any system boilers with a stainless steel exchanger made by them?
