Java problem Win 7 running explorer latest version

I can't think of anything else that would help with the problem. I know it niggles to leave a fault unsolved but if the browser works OK without Java installed, try running it like that. You may not need it or notice that it isn't there (apart from the browser working OK).

Java problem Win 7 running explorer latest version

I don't know how you tried to remove and reinstall Java but JavaRa is a good tool for getting rid of all traces of old Java versions before installing afresh. Might be worth using it: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/javara.html MajorGeeks is a reputable download site.

Java problem Win 7 running explorer latest version

Not many sites use Java these days, so it is mostly possible to uninstall it and leave it at that. Java vulnerabilities, faults and updates then don't need worrying about. There might be exceptions if you regularly visit a site that uses Java, or if it is needed for something that is...

    AVG FREE?

All AV or other security programs can have a failure rate, probably because of the reasons mentioned in the quote posted by CylonRaider, so changing one AV program for another is unfortunately not an absolute guarantee that the new program would never let an infection happen. I do think some...

    windows7 or windows 8

I'd say to go for Windows 8 (update to 8.1 if necessary) and take some time to get use to it as it comes. It works fine with a keyboard and mouse. If you find the transition to the new UI difficult, install a Start Menu replacement as suggested. Perhaps keep switching to the new UI once in a...

    Text size in Firefox 25.0

Are you familiar with editing the userChrome.css file to change aspects of Firefox's appearance? If so, it looks as if a solution to the spacing can be found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/975714 If you haven't heard of userChrome.css before, the file doesn't exist in...

Tips And Advice For Keeping Desktop PC Running Well?

Something that could be considered. Since Firefox and Chrome include PDF readers, either can be set as the default reader for online PDFs and for those stored on the computer. Maybe no need for Foxit or other reader. Just thought that worth a mention.

windows 8 second screen on desk top

I haven't had any experience of using Windows 8 on a touch-screen but when dragging down, is that all the way to the very bottom of the screen? Edit: Just playing around some more and found it is also possible to drag the program to the side of the screen using the mouse. Then the program...

    windows 8

I'd say to wait for the official release of 8.1. Not long to go now. Wait a week or two after that and then have a read around some of the computer forums on the Internet to see what the various opinions of the upgrade are. All versions of Windows come in for criticism when they first come...

windows 8 second screen on desk top

If two programs are running in split screen, one can be shut down by putting the mouse pointer at the top of the screen so that it turns into a hand. Then click and hold the left mouse button. Drag the mouse down to the bottom of the screen and let go of the mouse button. The program will close...

    windows 8

Thanks for highlighting that CylonRaider. It made me read around a bit. Here is another article that includes Microsoft's response and other information: http://redmondmag.com/articles/2013/08/22/windows-8-security-issues.aspx

    windows 8

I tried 'StartIsBack' shortly after getting Windows 8. Not free but only a few dollars. It did the job but by the time I installed it, I found I'd come to prefer the pretty screen full of tiles, so uninstalled the program :) I note that the expected 8.1 upgrade will allow smaller tiles on the...

    windows 8

I only bought Windows 8 because of the low price it was offered at when first released ..and out of interest to see what it was like. Certainly given me twenty-five Poundsworth of interest. Can't get a night out for that these days. :) The interface was a bit of a shock after looking at the...

    windows 8

A handy way of getting to familiar places in Windows 8 is to move the mouse pointer to the bottom left corner of the screen and right-click. Brings up this menu:

    windows 8

I get on OK with it. It runs my applications, games, browser and e-mail program fine. Just a different screen used for starting them up.

    Photoshop or not

A good point but sometimes threads are useful to others searching the Internet for information. Might do someone some good.

    Photoshop or not

I used Corel Photo-Paint for years but being part of the CorelDraw Suite, it is expensive. I don't use it enough now to justify buying the latest version but do have the Home & Student version. Although good value for money, I think version X6 is stripped down a bit too much (can't customise...

    Photoshop or not

A 'vector' type of program could be more suitable for your requirements. This would include Inkscape as has been mentioned. Others are Serif DrawPlus - CorelDraw - Xara Photo and Graphic Designer. Not all free (CorelDraw has a Home & Student version) but they produce images and graphics that are...

Firefox screen jumping up and down

I remember that a Firefox jumping window could happen if the Bookmarks Toolbar was showing but had no bookmarks in it. I thought this was cured ages ago but perhaps changes could have reintroduced it. Worth mentioning just in case. The cure was to either put some bookmarks in the toolbar or turn...

    Windows 8 upgrade.

I have upgraded from W.7 to W.8 Pro. A few programs were listed as incompatible with it. There was a message about CorelDraw X5 being incompatible but I chose the option to 'run it without help' and found that the program worked OK anyway, apart from its twain (scanner) driver being inoperative...
