    Smoking and Driving

I'm not a smoker now but must have driven many thousands of miles while smoking. No accidents or incidents to report due to that.

Asda comes down hard on parking cheats

My other half has managed to stay fairly slim and lightweight despite the fact she can't take any exercise. So I'm fortunate in that I can take her weight when necessary. But, yup ..I can see that managing with somebody bigger is going to be difficult. The trouble is that if you're a full-time...

Asda comes down hard on parking cheats

Some comment on that since it seems the opposite of what I wrote :). It's true that the actual bays aren't any wider than standard sized parking spaces but quite a large area is left either side of each car to allow for swinging the doors wide open. It's necessary to do this in order to get a...

Asda comes down hard on parking cheats

I agree with that. In our case it is the wide space that's needed rather than closeness to the entrance. I suppose that's not the case with people who aren't in a wheelchair though. There are those who can walk but have difficulty doing so. They need spaces close to the entrance. If they put...

    Chocolate in fridge?

If we have any chocolate, it's always kept in the fridge. This house is a chocolate-free zone at present. I had to diet in order to get into my suit. The 'suit' occasion is over now, so maybe I'll stock up the fridge again with double-chocolaty chocolate things.

    In-box, out-box,items sent etc

What e-mail program are you using? In Thunderbird, if the dividing line has become pushed to the left, the left side of the Window border looks thicker where the boxes should be. If you are careful and accurate when clicking the mouse button, it should be possible to grab the dividing line and...

    In-box, out-box,items sent etc

Similar in Thunderbird. It can end up with no inbox/outbox showing at all. If that's the case, move the mouse over the left side of the Window until it turns into a double-headed arrow. When it does, click and hold down the left button and move the mouse to the right.

    HD Tv

I don't think so. It seems like it's a way of transmitting two lots of data using the same frequency. A brief description here (last two paragraphs). Just to mention the Virgin V+ box (on cable) again. That has HD capabilities too.

Should of Would of Could of Off of

Hello Space cat - Your post was a pretty good lesson in English. It's a long time since I thought about sentences in terms of the correct usage of verbs, adverbs, prepositions etc. These days, a sentence either looks properly written to me or it doesn't. I've forgotten how to describe what is...

    HD Tv

I believe you have assessed the situation correctly. Further to that, I read that ways are being looked into regarding how HDTV can be transmitted within the available space. There are mentions of a system called MIMO and compressed signals. Something extra for us to buy in the future perhaps. I...

    HD Tv

I understand that true HD may only apply to a pixel number high enough to take it. Nonetheless, the term 'HD' can in looser terms be applied to a smaller TV. The Sony I have has a 1366x768 pixel panel. The V+ box feeds a 1080i signal to the TV. So, scaling is being done. Nonetheless, the TV...

    HD Tv

HD is the bee's knees when it comes to picture quality in my opinion. I have a 20" LCD wide-screen Sony running on a Virgin V+ box. There is only one BBC channel showing HD test transmissions at present. These aren't always scheduled programmes but they sometimes are. I've read that HD...

Many people throughout the world speak some English. So, while we might exclude foreign languages from our searches for answers, people from other countries are probably less likely to exclude English language sites from theirs. Things might be difficult for them if sentences contain spelling...
