    A very serious post...

I think your obvious regret and intent never to do this again will come across in the Court Room. Genuine regret is probably something they will be looking out for when deciding how to handle things. True that the action could have lead to injury to yourself and others but the fact is that it...

    Soldiers on trial!

Do you know for certain the circumstances of the deaths in Police custody? Were some of them perhaps due to suicides or heart attacks brought on by the strain of the situation? Or do you think they were all caused by the Police giving arrested people a bit of a kicking?

    problem with pc coming on

If the computer is an older one, it could also be something to do with the power supply I suppose. Perhaps some kind of hardware based fault anyway. Someone I know, recently had a similar problem and it turned out to be the DVD writer stopping boot-up. Presumably it was dragging the volts...

    Has anyone tried Firefox?

I've been using Firefox since it was called 'Phoenix' (version 0.4, October 2002). Firefox becomes really good when you install a few extensions and customise the toolbars/appearance a bit. Extensions can be found on the Mozilla site or at 'The Extensions Mirror'. Here's a list of Firefox...

    Soldiers on trial!

Bear in mind that it's only a few individuals that are charged with prisoner abuse, not the entire Army. If the Army and all of its soldiers thought poor prisoner treatment was OK, there'd be many more cases of it than there is.

    Soldiers on trial!

Can anyone suggest a reason why the soldiers allowed their actions to be photographed? If they knew this was not how they are supposed to treat prisoners, then I can't understand why they'd want photographic evidence of it hanging around.

    Kilroy-Silk. Mad or right?

Maybe it is. I always thought Margaret Thatcher had that trait and she did particularly well in politics. She stayed within a large political party and was prepared to work her way to the top though. Mr Kilroy-Silk chose not to do that. Maybe if he'd stayed with the Labour Party, he might have...

    Whistle Key Fobs

I had one of those. It worked too. Whistle and it would bleep. It also bleeped at every other sort of noise. I stuffed it in a draw but it still bleeped with nearby noises. In the end, I threw it in the dustbin. It probably bleeped all the way to the landfill site. So, if you're ever near a...

    Bathroom TV

This is true. The supply voltage might be low but it has to be cranked up to run a CRT television. Even with a very small screen, the EHT might have to be something in the order of 4 - 8Kv. It sometimes doesn't take much moisture in the air for it to start making ticking or arcing noises. Not...

    Drill Key

It made me chuckle  Glad nobody was in the firing line though.

    WD-40

Cunning coke users might simply wipe the WD-40 off with half a roll of toilet paper. Maybe they do and this accounts for the lack of paper in some cubicles.

    Gadgets

Try pulling the eject button instead of pushing it. That might work.

    Gadgets

Although not absolutely essential to a happy and fulfilled life, some of them are nice to own in my opinion. I've got: 1. A rather aged mobile phone that I use twice a week. If I didn't have it, I'd have to find a phone box that works. 2. A digital camera that has taken the place of the...

    TV not working !!!

When a tube goes it's usually a very gradual process. The picture just gets dimmer and dimmer over a period of time (the sound will remain unaffected). Tubes can go sudddenly but it's rare. So, the fault is likely to be something other than that. It could perhaps be a bad connection, a fault...

    Epson Stylus Photo 830U

I agree with that securespark, such a waste to throw the cartridge out when only one colour tank is empty. I suppose you could look into refilling the cartridges. I've owned a few Epsons. I'm not sure there's any way to fool the printer but I seem to remember there was an option in the...

I know most people dislike this type of cookie intensely because of privacy issues. I don't worry about them too much personally. Basically, they are to do with advertising. The cookie contains information about what ads to present to you that might encourage you to buy something. The ads you...

    HOW MUCH??????????????

If I'd bought alot of 'top of the range' expensive items I think I would get the expensive leads. But to buy all that stuff, I'd have had to come into a large sum of money. The sort of money that would make spending £100-00 on a scart lead seem like a drop in the ocean. The most I've ever...

    HOW MUCH??????????????

Makes me wonder how well some of the thicker scart leads hang into the sockets. Some of the ones I've got have all 21 pins wired and are double shielded. This makes them fairly thick and they tend to drop out easily because of being less flexible. They are OK once encouraged to stay in place one...

    HOW MUCH??????????????

Some scart leads are better than others. I was in a shop a while ago where they were playing a the same DVD on two identical setups. The only difference was that one DVD player was connecting via an inexpensive scart lead and the other was using one a monster sized one. There was an obvious...

    Windy map

That's a good site, I've bookmarked it. Thanks. A while ago I came across this good infra-red weather satellite view that covers UK, Europe and more. It updates very frequently. Also worth a bookmark maybe.
