Could be your expansion vessel needs pressurising. If there is insufficient pressure in it, there is nowhere for the hot water to expand. Pressure builds up and releases out of the overflow. Then the water cools down and your system pressure falls. You top it up again and the cycle repeats itself.

Why? 95mm (or 4 inches if you prefer) is a fairly standard diameter isn't it?

The diameter of the wc spigot is fine at about 95mm. Its the protruding length at 25mm which I think is too short. I have considered using a silicone seal, but it shouldn't really be necessary.
