    I agree with Nige, It could well be a piece of loose solder or some thing in the pipe. Strip it out and run that section in Hep2o.

    Just drop the pressure in the system . You can swap the valve without draining down if you do it quickly, just have plenty of towels just incase.

    Try checking the expansion tank in the loft , the ball valve could be stuck, maybe theres no water in system .

    Exactly as you said . Shut flow and return valves on the boiler . Drain boiler and fit your new valve . Done . 20 mins tops .

    Dont try the pump on speed no 1 - this boiler is a combi and will need to be set higher as per manufacturers instructions .

    you could fit a non return valve on the outlet of the hot water cylinder , that way - no water will go back up to the tank via the cold feed . Also if you fit any other mixers on the system this will solve any further problems.

    Your valves are def fitted the wrong way round. But more common is that the boiler has been renewed recently and the flow and return pipes have been connected the wrong way round - thus the water is flowing backwards round the system .
