FHT floor heating control - mystery wiring diagram!!

Went with what seemed logical - the diagram attempts to show heating load (I think) on terminals 1 and 4. So made 3 live, and all works. The manufacturers web-site is next to useless - the only diagram they have is the same. But if anyone else comes across these (used for Kilma heating mats...

FHT floor heating control - mystery wiring diagram!!

I am just fitting under-floor heating, and I have up against a problem in wirig in the thermostat/timer. It was purchased from Screwfix, but is from a Dutch company, and is labelled "FHT-Control". The problem is the wiring diagram. The sensor links are clear, as are the earths. However, it...

    Bath fills SO slowly....!

haven't investigated that yet. The taps are side exit valves - water then goes to the combined filler/waste. They were not cheap, so unless the company would exchange them, it is cheaper to get a pump!! I suppose I could argue that they didn't state they were for high pressure systems...and...

    Bath fills SO slowly....!

Looks like my taps were designed for high pressure system. I think I can get away with pumping the hot water only, so will try that option. Noise is not a problem - the bath has a full whirpool system which makes quite a lot of noise, and the taps will hopefully not be on that often once in the...

    Bath fills SO slowly....!

Tony - I got some benefit from the previous owner of the house, who fitted two tanks in the roof. Cold supply is two 50 gallon tanks, connected together. Hot is a separate 50 gallon tank (in new extension). Problem is that this is an old house, and the supply into the house is only 15mm - so...

    Bath fills SO slowly....!

Taps are standard quarter turn bath taps. I have been careful to avoid restrictions in the flow - the recommendation was for flexible 22mm connectors, but the bore was so small I have bent 22mm pipe to fit (and yes, it took me ages.) The head is about 3m on hot, and 3.5 on cold. Trouble is...

    Bath fills SO slowly....!

Just installed a beautiful huge whirlppol bath. 22mm connections to side valve taps, then to a combined pop-up waste filler. Cold is supplied from an exisiting tank inthe roof, hot from the new tank installed for the new hotwater system. However, it takes for ever to fill. any reason why i...

New regs for supplemtary bonding cable sizes?

To behonest, I am replicating the existing building sizes - just seems mroe sensible to be the same throughout, to avoid any questions as to why it isnt later! seems odd that the supply chain seems to want to supply loads of 10mm, but makes it hard to find 4 or 6! Thanks

New regs for supplemtary bonding cable sizes?

About to start supplementary bonding three new bathrooms, boiler installation etc - and was going to use 6mm cable. However, on trying to buy a 50m roll, I find that places such as Screwfix, B&Q etc only sell 50m rolls of 10mm2 - with 6mm2 either not available, or only available in 10m bits...

    radiator balancing with multiple zones

Yes Tony - but not always at my desk! somewhat confused! I wasn't aware that balancing was different for a condensing boiler, so was using the figures I used some time ago for a standard boiler. I will aim for whatever differential is recommended - but out of curiosity, what is the theory behind...

    wires behing skirting board

yes indeed - misunderstood you when you said they were run along behind skirting board! The easiest way to deal with this is to ease the skirting off the wall - even if the cables do start to come away, it is easy enough to spot before you take the whole board off - then simply remove the...

    wires behing skirting board

As I understand it, you shouldnt run wires behind skirting boards! Against building regs according to a chap from Derby City council.

    radiator balancing with multiple zones

That is interesting - so provided the boiler and pump are up to the job, I should actually be trying to achieve the lowest drop across the radiators - providing the drop is the same in all cases? The boiler is a vaillant eco-tec 428 - and I have to say it heats the system up amazingly...

    radiator balancing with multiple zones

thank you, Agile - I will give the half-turn method a go, and if I ever get hold of a couple of clip on thermometers, I might try a little more accuracy. As for the gate valve - not sure what other options I have, to be honest. Cannot find an in-line lockshield. I will try a half turn, and...

    radiator balancing with multiple zones

thank you - the pump is a grundfoss three speed, but not automatic - I will have a look at the auto ones. On the zones - given that you normally balance closest radiator first, would it be worthwhile applying the same logic to the zones, ie balance the ones with least resistance first? One of...

    Kitchen extension and LABC

I am having an extension done, with full planning permission. The building control officer who has inspected the kitchen wiring before I cover it, states I still have to have it tested - at my expense! Surely that is the purpose of having an inspection by the building regs people, whom I have...

    radiator balancing with multiple zones

I have installed a three zone system - simple question, I know how to balance the system, but not sure whether I should do each zone seperately, or the entire system with all zones fully on? I also need a hint about balancing DHW - I have a fourth valve which supplies DHW, via 22mm - clearly...
