Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

No, I'm not trade just DIY and an upcoming new build. I do general home DIY as well as construction projects/buildings around the home and garden. The tools aren't used everyday unless I'm working on a project and I haven't done much in the last 4/5 months. I'm getting ready for a load of...

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

Soooo, I can get a Dewalt DCF887 with two 5Ah batteries, charger and case & a Dewalt DCD996 also with two 5Ah batteries, charger and case for £10 more than I was getting the Makita 481 & 154 with two 5Ah batteries, charger and case. Does this sound like the way to go?

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

I was just about to place an order for a Makita twin pack (https://www.ffx.co.uk/product/Get/Makita-Dlx2176Tj-0088381826815-18V-2X5.0Ah-Brushless-Li-Ion-Lxt-Twin-Kit) and then I watched these videos and now I think I'm back to Dewalt! I can get the Dewalt DCF887 impact driver and the...

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

I've had a Dewalt multitool repaired under warranty and that was a great turnaround and easy to sort. I was all Dewalt a few hours ago but now I think I'm leaning towards Makita......

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

Someone sent me this on another forum - it's quite worrying for Dewalt! https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.dewalt.co.uk

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

I was looking for that model for the impact driver. It's just choosing the battery power after that.

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

I don't want the existing batteries. I want to get a new battery system and bin the old ones.

Thanks for that. What do you think to this? https://www.ffx.co.uk/product/Get/Dewalt-Dcd996P2-5035048644485-18V-2-X-5.0Ah-Xr-Li-Ion-Brushless-Combi-Drill-Kit

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

I think the DC988 that I currently have has a max torque of 52Nm but the DCD996, which is what I was thinking about is 95Nm.

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

Absolutley. The only way I can get something with power is to buy separately. They might have a decent impact driver but then it's bundled with a poor drill.

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

I always had it in my mind that when I came to change I'd go for Milwauke but after watching a few videos, they do seem to outperform the Dewalt but I keep seeing that they run hotter and burn out quicker. The battery system is why I've ended up going back to corded on a few of my tools. I...

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

I'm looking for 5.0Ah batteries and the drill is a 7 series (DCD776). I don't want to downgrade the power I've been used to. But thanks

Time for a new Drill & Impact driver....what's your thoughts?

I've been using a Dewalt DC988 for 15 years for DIY work and it's been a great bit of kit. The gears are getting hard to engage now but the big problem really is the batteries don't hold a charge for long. I've got a range of dewalt battery powered tools, impact driver, circular saw, SDS drill...

    Wood fascia refurb

I need to refurb my roofline which is cast iron gutters with timber fascias and soffits. There's a few sections of the guttering that has failed and will need replacing but where it's been leaking the fascias have rotted. I don't want to have to remove the guttering in the areas and replace...

    Scaffold Tower security?

    Just trying to be cautious.

    Scaffold Tower security?

Yeah, maybe you’re right. Maybe I should just sit at my computer all day and make sarcastic comments to everyone on forums instead. My area, like most areas in the UK suffer from things getting nicked. I’ve stored the tower in my garage for at least a couple of years and it hasn’t been nicked...

So there's no sensible way to ensure they don't get nicked then?

    Scaffold Tower security?

How do you successfully secure scaffold towers overnight? Or do you dismantle and pack away at the end of every day?
