    Have I killed my tree?

I can't say I noticed much before if it's always been like this, it just caught my eye today. I chopped through a few roots about 5 years ago and wondered if I've killed it. It's a Sycamore and at least 20m tall.

Osmo country colour & WR basecoat

OK. I'm not bothered about that stain though, I was just telling you the different types of stain/paint I've used before and what the results have been. I'm not going to paint the garden furniture in the Ronseal stuff, I'm going to paint it in the Osmo paint. I just wanted to know if there was...

Osmo country colour & WR basecoat

This stuff. https://www.toolstation.com/ronseal-fence-life-plus-5l/p84400 Also, that's why I was looking at the Osmo stuff because the paint says it doesn't bubble or flake off.

Osmo country colour & WR basecoat

I painted a fence and gazebo in Ronseal fence paint and a year later it’s washed out. I painted a outbuilding with some barn paint from Paintmaster and it’s like new 2 years later. I also repainted the gazebo in this paint. It seems to have quite a thick plastic coat to it. I was going to use...

Osmo country colour & WR basecoat

I’m painting some garden furniture and was going to use the Osmo WR basecoat first (it’s new pine) then Osmo country colour (Labrador blue) Are they worth the massive cost or is there an alternative?

Putting a switch on festoon lights

No - that's as it was. It's for an indicator light which can be wired up 3 ways - on when the switch it on, always on, on when switch is off.

Putting a switch on festoon lights

I have a set of festoon garden lights that come with a standard 3 pin plug. These lights have no earth, just the live and neutral. I bought a plastic exterior light switch with the intention of splitting the 2 core cable and putting the switch in-line but I'm confused about which wire goes...

Best treatment for tanalised timber table

What the best options for treating and protecting outdoor tanalised timber furniture? Can I treat it straight away or do I have to wait for a few months? I don’t want a finish that I have to keep doing every year or so, I prefer something that needs little maintenance. I saw a suggestion to...

BEST FIXING FOR GREEN RAILWAY SLEEPER OUTDOOR TABLE

I'm building a chunky garden table and bench from tanalized railway sleepers (200mm x 100mm) and wondered which is best for fixings? These: https://www.toolstation.com/forgefast-t ... rew/p38111 or these: https://www.screwfix.com/p/turbocoach-c ... pack/27508 I need a mixture of 200mm and...

Help with lighting for garden gazebo

Yes, it’s a Lay-z-spa Hawaii I think. The square one. From the manual •The spa must be supplied through an isolating transformer or supplied through a residual current device (RCD) having a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA. • The spa must be connected to a grounded mains...

Help with lighting for garden gazebo

I’ve followed the manufacturers guidelines for the hot tub and the socket was fitted by and electrician specifically as an outdoor socket. What’s the point in fitting a socket if you can’t plug things into it?!?

Help with lighting for garden gazebo

I built a hot tub enclosure last year for one of those blow up hot tubs (which is why it's enclosed so the dogs don't burst it!) and I never got round to roofing it or putting lights in it - so I'm looking for advice. Everything is plugged into an RCA protected outdoor socket so I wanted to run...

    Cheapest way to fill potholes

The lane has been in use for 150+ years. I don't know exactly when it was finished, I'd say the 70-80's maybe. If it's sunk over 30-40 years then it's not doing bad considering. I have a 2 driveways, one that uses the lan and the other directly off the main street. In a few years I won't be...

    Cheapest way to fill potholes

3 houses, I’d say 10 cars but it’s also a rear access to a farm which use it very little apart from harvest time and getting grass in for the cattle but when they use it then it’s literally 12 hours solid with big heavy tractors coming every 10 minutes. It’s the tractors that have caused the...
