At the risk of repeating myself, all the pictures apart from the bit you did are weather struck pointing. You did bucket handled. That’s your fundamental issue. See my earlier post. Use a pointing trowel, practice weatherstruck.

Yeah, did hope it may be as easy as that, but this one’s the annoying combo of ridiculously soft patches that come out with screwdriver, but mainly rock solid so will need the grinder. Don’t want to risk just patching the odd bit, as I’m going to build a polycarbonate roofed shed/bike shelter...

Planning on using my old titan extractor to get as much dust as possible when raking out the joints before repointing. Is there any benefit to not using the filter, or not using a bag? I’m thinking it’s going to kill the filter pretty quick but better that than killing the machine… it’s out in...

The latest pic is weather struck, completely different pointing style. Done with a pointing trowel. More common on old/reclaimed brick. Yours is bucket handled/half round. More common on newer stuff. Doing it completely flush is different again, where you rub it down with sacking/brush...
