Worcester Boiler not firing after a drain and refill. Single pipe system.

You've got isolating valves on the pump to the right of the llh. Have you checked them? And the iso valves on the other pump (if the 'plumber' says he didn't touch them i'd check them anyway, he's arrived to a working system and left a non-working system so not the best)

Worcester Boiler not firing after a drain and refill. Single pipe system.

Low loss headers aren't a particularly common feature. There will be pump(s) on the 'load' side of the LLH- are they running? Has your random plumber turned off any isolating valves on the load side?

Moving Fuse/circuit board - extend wires

Yes connections can be crimped or soldered but they need to be done properly

Moving Fuse/circuit board - extend wires

The distribution cables (stuff going to lights, sockets etc) can be extended. This may involve a box on the wall where the CU was. You may run into safe zone problems if you planned on burying the cables. You/your electrician cannot move the meter, cutout, supply cable to the house. If there is...

    Remove rusted R clip

HA! Got the little swine. Fortunately on my C5 the clip runs horizontally so access is ok. R clip is approx 3mm diameter, there was about 15mm of the pin end sticking out. Take an M8 or M10 bolt, 80mm long is ideal (gets the bolt end level with the rear disc so you can proper hit it with the...

    Kilowattage question. Help please.

Odd. Who is testing and commissioning this new circuit? Building Control aren't usually interested in domestic appliances....

    HETAS certificate null and void?

Is the system as installed compliant with relevant regulations and safe to use? If not (and you clearly have been made aware that it is not) then the only use for your certificate is as evidence in any civil or criminal proceedings.

    Remove rusted R clip

Citroen C5 rear strut. Mr Haynes (and a few Tiktok videos) all glibly show the clip coming out with modest force- not happening in this case! I've tried hammering (the pin is bending), heat, penetrating fluids, pulling with leverage (the R is distorting/opening up). I'm tempted to try drilling...

Deck on a slope - retrospective planning permission request

Of course it will affect any sale. You'll have an easier sale if you can resolve it (ie letter from council saying yes it is pd, sorry to have bothered you) but if for some reason you can't wait then as long as you are completely open with purchaser and share all documents you can sell as is.

    Solid fuel to thermal store

Heatweb are worth a look as well (I've got one, it works fine). Have you looked at running costs for your (presumably) coke- fired Rayburn, not to mention the time you have to spend stoking and clearing ash. I love my multifuel woodburner but it is a consumer of much time and effort (cutting and...

    Plaster over lining paper?

The paper face on plasterboard is more like cardboard- if you did manage to get through it the innards would fall to bits (no polished surface)

    Plaster over lining paper?

Were you using a steam stripper- they can be a big vicious on plaster. Yes there are some lazy people around who would skim over paper - hopefully you aren't lifting the face off plasterboard (walls sound hollow)?

Quickfire Opinions Wanted - Plastering, Plumbing, Patios - Help!

Whats the fall on your poorly- planned loo? If its inside the numbers in the Approved Docs it'll be fine (surprisingly shallow fall needed for toilets). And what other parts of the scheme are not going to work because of the way the shell has been built? Best find out now rather than after you...

Any heavy diesel experts on here?

Yeah, them's the things. The Merc special tools are quite natty- crows-foot short ring spanner with a 90 degree bend and a half-inch socket drive on top. $22 in the US, a lot more over here!

    No power electric shower

Do you always switch it on and off at the pullcord? If yes then good odds thats failed. Isolate before removing the cover (might be loose wires inside), look for and rectify anything obvious wrong then power it up and test.

Any heavy diesel experts on here?

No, no water in either fuel filter (lot of cr*p though). Think @norseman was right about the noise being due to Easystart- probably detonating. Really didn't want to start on the injectors themselves- torque is 40 Nm so not much chance an open-ender would shift them (not banjos). Might treat...

Any heavy diesel experts on here?

Oh yes, the actual fault was interesting. Split in the leak pipe from the injectors- which returns to the input on the prefilter (glass bowl). There is no lift pump- there's a suction pump below the injector pump (so sequence is line from tank and leak line from injectors > prefilter > suction...

Any heavy diesel experts on here?

HURRAH! Baby lorry is back in business- took about 300 strokes on the priming pump but she lives. Time for an oil change now. Ta for all the hints and tips :) PS don't suppose this was helping (fuel filter)

Any heavy diesel experts on here?

Ta. Looking at the sight glass the priming pump is pulling fuel through from the tank with little effort required but these are all top tips, ta muchly :)

    Replacement roof and soil pipe

Best to use solvent weld for the offset- the rubber seal types might go a bit wonky in high winds :)
