    rendering and dpc

they should have injected outside aswell as the inside on the same level. that is the idea of a chemical dpc, it is injected and then spreads out to form a seal. as trowelmonkey says use a bellcast bead to allow water to drip away from the wall. is there any flags tight up to the wall on...

    Why skim plasterboard?

i can spot taped joints a mile away but you can't see the joints in a skimmed board unless the spread is a numpty. in reply to jimbo i have rehung rads, mirrors, skirts, all manor of fixings to skimmed boards and never had any cracks appear.

    Preparing for the plasterer...........

i would have a word with your spread first. if it was me i would allow you to do this and this only and that if it needs to be taken down i am paid to alter your mistakes. on that context i would allow you to do it. but everything else, taping beads etc i would want to do myself. i always...

Preparing old plaster walls & ceilings for painting

i would really need to see it before i can comment on the ceiling as with all old buildings keeping original features is a must for owners. if you sand and fill it will take you ages and you can't sand n fill blown plaster. this will need to be replaced. if you line it? if the old chases...

    PLASTERING OVER TILES?

to add my point of view. It can be done i've done it myself using pva n sand slurry mix (similar to what wickes bonding agent is now) but i have to add it was at the request of a builder for a quick turnaround and was against my advice and therefore i did not issue him with a guarantee...

    Boarding and plastering a ceiling

overboarding is ok so long a whoever is doing it secures the new board tight to the old. I am not a fan of overboarding but have done so specifically at the customers request. i think it is better to rip down and replace escpecially if the ceiling is in any way unlevel which being artex...

    Why skim plasterboard?

i agree with roughcaster and richardc taping and jointing in my opinion is for speed and speed only normally for commercial jobs! The finish you get is good but compared to the finish you get when a wall is properly skimmed there is definitely no comparison. :D

my mate is a site manager for persimmon and has laid of 60 percent of his workforce and its all down to the fact that they have 12.5 million worth of houses up to roof but their sales teams have only sold 2.5 million pounds worth of them. so they have told them to stop building until sales...

fellas, i was in no way suggesting anyone on here does not know they are on about. maybe my comments were taken out of context they were meant to b a bit tongue in cheek. all's i am sayin is that gripfill will stick coving up and multi will hold board and be quite strong (esp gripfill) but i...
