How do i calculate concrete ingredents?

Yeah, they delivered the materials yesterday. I bought a tonne of sand, and 20 bags of cement (half tonne), and 20 bags of aggregrete (half tonne). Shifted it all round the back of the house ready for tomorrow.....

How do i calculate concrete ingredents?

Thanks, i've called the yard and they call it 'half to dust' so i've ordered that - guess that means half inch in size down to just dust. Funny thing is B and Q are actually cheeper for cement and chips. The yard refused to match their price, but i cant get 1.5 tonnes in the car! Oh well...

    New Carpets....from where?

I always buy carpet from CarpetRight. Go into a show room and buy it. Ask them to fit it, but tell them you have underlay and grippers already. Then when the fitter arrives, he'll moan that there are no grippers or underlay, and sell you some cheeper than buying it in the shop.

    Damp concrete floor

Took the floor up last night. The floor is actually a 5" concrete base, and a 2inch screed. Can ronafix be used to make up a 2in DPM screed or is that too big and i need to make up 1" with concrete, then a 1" DPM screed on top? I read the back of the ronafix container, and there is several...

    Damp concrete floor

Hi, Had someone round to look at the floor, only 3.5sqm is effected (the rest of the floor was replaced some time in the past by the looks of it) so i will be hitting off the 1 inch screed, sealing and re-screeding the floor rather than ripping it up.

    Damp concrete floor

Hummmm, just adding up the costs involved, and excluding labour, its working out slightly cheeper to rip out the whole floor, dig down a foot, and fit joists and joist hangers, floor boards. Any pros / cons to this?

    Damp concrete floor

Sounds like a resonable solution. Will it prevent the concrete arching up in the future and who sells it? I tired build center and jewsons and they both dont sell it! I need to dig out the bits that have bubbled up with the damp and relay the concrete, then screed. Any tips on how to...

    Damp concrete floor

I thought of that. Hitting off the 1" top screed, applying a liquid DPM paint sealer to the 3" concrete underneath, then a 1" layer of latex over the whole floor to level it off. Would that be ok or would it sink? What sealer should i use? Most of the damp is where the floor touches...

    Unlevel week floor

If the floor is sagging that much, then id replace the floor. This will involve new joists, and hence new ceiling downstairs. If the floor boards are rotten also, then they will need replacing. The bore holes sounds like wood worm. You can treat that yourself with a pump spray gun (go to...
