Texecom Premier 24 / 48 control panel questions

Morning chaps, Could I quickly jump on here and second that request for the pdf's?.. After much "discussions" with 'er indoors and a few incidences where the BT badged Visonic (Stop laughing!!) wouldn't disarm/arm due to sensors going out of comms range (Please stop laughing!) I've decided...

Unfortunetly it is all of whats been said thats stopping men getting into childcare... (My appologies for it being long but this is one subject thats close to me personally.. ) My brother (22) is my regular baby sitter/child minder/helper for my 3 girls (3/7/8 ) he's been helping us since...

    Telephone cable for data

You'll probably want to use Master style RJ45>BT Jacks. Some kit (older sky boxes) can be a bit funny about being on secondary style adaptor jacks.. As for wiring, as computer geek says.. Wire back to your Wiring Closet (Node 0/Room under the stairs :D ) to a patch panel.. Simplest way...

    vista

You'll either like it or loathe it... As I work in the NHS as an IT tech I've seen just about every flavour of Windows (and I thought I'd seen it all before... but nope.. I'd never seen Windows 3.0! *shudder*) we only use XP at work... Apprantely we're quite a forward thinking NHS...

Mounting door contacts onto beveled uPVC door

I can concur with Breezer on this one... Most mags will cope with a large gap as long as they are lined up together... I had to do this to get a mag contact working on both my shed and the back door, works perfectly and mines a crappy BT wireless system :P

    Drylining

Well... I took the plunge.. Ordered the boards, battens and polystyrene insulation... There's a few obvious mistakes so far which I'm going to rectify as I go (mainly the missing top plate... Plus an additional nogin as the room is taller than a 2400x1200 board).. Can I just confirm...

    my vw sharan!

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to an alternative site... But there is a Ford Galaxy Owners Club (google is your friend here!) which not only caters for the Galaxy but also the Sharan & Seat Alhambra.. Very nice bunch of people and very very knowledgable about all things Shalaxy :)...

    Wall Lights

Thanks for clearing that up for me... I would carry on but as if by magic Mrs Unseen was looking at the alcoves in the room today and I could just hear "Hmm Shelving with lights would look nice"... Would it be classed as murder I wonder... Sigh....

    Quick EOL Question Please

I'd appreciate a drawing Breezer as it might help get it in my head a little better when it comes to planning my install... (As I'd like to protect the downstairs windows and in all of the rooms there's 2 windows) Rob

    Wall Lights

One final question... Is it acceptable practice to run a cable horizontally between the two wall lights? (I've a feeling I may open a can of worms here possibly) Based on my read up of various posts here I would assume yes as it should be (semi) obvious there would be a link between the...

    Wall Lights

*sigh* I'll blame the joys of working for the NHS on the hours!... Good point btw I'll blame 4am for not thinking about running everything and waiting..

    Wall Lights

Morning.... Mrs Unseen would like some wall lights fitted (before xmas apprently! :( ) in the room I'm trying to dryline (again in time for xmas!). Currently all the lighting is wired loop in and RCD protected. With the light picked the only way I can see of carrying on loop-in wiring...

    Dot dab advice

Or is it standard practice to stay with 1 method through an entire room?.. I should add I'll be wanting to hide most of the cabling in conduit before dry lining (speakers/alarm/wall lights) would that in itself lead one method to be better than another? Thanks Rob

    Dot dab advice

Thanks for that roughcaster, Does anyone have any tips, sites they got info from they'd care to share regarding battening out? While trying to avoid the nightmare traffic last night (manchester grid locked! bleh! :( ) I took solace in B&Q... Looking at the poly insulation I can find the...

    Dot dab advice

Just out of interest.... Just a couple of questions.. For now! As you can see in the pic, we've put rockwoll in the ceiling to help deaden sound noise (kids bedroom above). Would double skinning the ceiling also help kill noise or just add unnessesary weight to the joists? (I'm also...

Help identifying wiring box - Possibly BT connector

That does indeed look suspiciously like the old style BT junction box.... Is that 2 wires coming out of the box on the left hand side? Looks like the old style BT wiring.. As to getting BT involved... Technically I think you have to as everything upto the NTE is theirs... Possibly more a...

    Dot dab advice

Thanks for that roughcaster!... One item my brother came up with (plumber in training.. now thinks he's gods gift to diy! no offence to other plumbers mind!) quite a lot of joints are missing mortar, he was trying to suggest basically repointing the wall... But I would have thought...

    General Advice

Must admit, I'd assumed most people would put an additional sounder in as standard? As that was my planned intention, at least 1 in the kitchen and possibly a 2nd in the hall. If I thought they weren't loud enough I'd deffinetely consider something for the landing. My thoughts around that...

    General Advice

Cheers for your honesty Breezer... Especially regarding the smoke/fire alarm.. The only reason we have one with the current system is because it came with it as part of the deal... As for the pet detectors interesting comments from all... I'll admit the sensors I currently have are not...
