its a shallow pitch aswell maybe 20 degrees.is there a certain height the collar ties must be placed.

its just i read that over 6m in span it had to be trusses with girder truss and mono trusses.is there extra precautions you have to take with traditional hip roof at that span.

hi there,building an extension approx 6m x 4m putting a hipped roof on it.i,m a joiner but i haven't done alot of cut roofs just alot of trusses.what size timber should i use for the rafters and hips also whats the best way to fix the ridge to the house.any help appreciated.

How do i go about marking the rafters?

How do i go about marking them out? Why 400 centres? Will be putting a couple of velux windows in aswell.Do this make a difference?

Span will be about 3.5m not sure about pitch.

The tiles will be marley modern interlocking tiles.What size pitching plate should i use? Will 6"x"2" be ok for the rafters?

Removing my existing fire and want to block it up.I've heard that you need to put a vent for airflow where the fire was.I was wondering instead of putting a vent on the inside of the house could i not put an airbrick on the outside of the chimney.Help appreciated.

howdy.working on a new building site for a different house builder.putting on a roof i've never done before.the top hat trusses sit on two gluelam beams which are easy enough but how do you you mark the 7x2 which gets fitted from the side of the top hat to the wallplate any help would be great.
