    Luxury Vinyl Flooring.

There's no such thing as waterproof laminate or vinyl tiles, never has been, never will be. Both have seams/joins, and those seams will ALWAYS be a weak point for water ingress and adhesive decay. That's nature's way. If you need it waterproof you need ceramic tiles or sheet vinyl.

Best method to filling coving gaps please help thanks.

White filler. The pros just push it in and smooth it with a finger and pallet knife. Nothing to it!

Type of ply to cover floorboards?

The cheapest one. Most places only stock ordinary non-structural hardwood ply anyway. Birch is for 'nice looking' projects. You don't need it. Structural ply uses glue that is more water resistant. Some people like to call it 'marine ply' but that's just a colloquial name for it. You don't need it.

    Housing market downbeat

House prices will never fall significantly unless the government makes it legal to build houses again. (Or a large portion of the population disappears somehow!) Simple supply and demand.

    Pointless vote?

+1 Education level doesn't seem to bring broad political insight either. Remember how loudly the politicians, academics and journalists crowed about the wonders of communism and the statism that was being birthed in the Soviet Union, and Romania, and China, and Vietnam, and Venezuela... The...

Is surround sound worth it in a small room?

Surround sound is not worth it, especially in a small room. Sound bar is the cheap option, but nothing beats a decent stereo pair of speakers with good bass response, properly sited -often about 6 feet apart depending on couch distance (rather than two feet apart for a sound bar:rolleyes:)

Skirting depth > architrave - plinth block on one side?

TBH I doubt anyone will notice since it's very plain architrave, and I'm guessing you're using similarly plain skirting.

Type of ply to cover floorboards?

Bog standard 6mm ply is fine. 9mm is overkill. Put some 3mm foam underneath it and use plenty of screws or ring shank nails.

Worried about insulating an old house

That's more of an issue when you put gypsum plaster straight onto brick (where lime plaster used to be). Plasterboard will have an air gap behind it, so the walls shouldn't mind the change. Don't even think about an injected DPC (what is this, 1990?), instead make sure your underfloor...

    Most over priced tool

£35 for a plastic skimming trowel seems uneceesarily expensive to me, considering it's just plastic. https://www.amazon.co.uk/REFINA-PLAZIFLEX-Plastic-Skimming-Trowel/dp/B00I06SNDM

Best way to join skirting to staircase - advice

The answer to skirting problems is nearly always: Use a plinth block. You can make one quite easily from a scrap piece of timber, and add chamfers or route a nice profile into it to make it as decorative as you like. Here's a more fancy-pants solution:

Widening internal doorway a small amount

That'll just be bonding plaster and a wooden lintel, standard for old houses. Looks like a single skin wall so yeah you can widen it, but you might need to insert a new lintel if the existing one isn't wide enough. No doubt you'll have to smash a few bricks at the side to enlarge the opening...

    Skirting Challenge

Another option is to fit a plinth block with a chamfer on it to allow the transisiton between thick skirting and thin door frame. Or just cut out some of the plaster(board) from the base of the wall, enough to fit the skirting in.

    UK police exposed

I follow all CrimeBodge's videos and his website is brilliant, but I was disappointed by his latest vid (which the OP posted). It was a lot more spiteful and conspiratorial than usual. I think it's just a bitter reaction to being taken to court a couple of weeks ago by a jobsworth policechild...
