    Latest Thinking About LED Lamps

I've used one of these for a couple of years: http://www.alarmsandlightbulbs.co.uk/smd-bulbs-31-c.asp it seems to me to be pretty bright for 3watts but, unfortunately, they've not reduced the price at all so they now look pretty expensive. Cheers, Graham

    car phone charging

I'm just wondering if the underlying problem is (understandably) not wanting to leave the car with keys in the ignition for a few hours. My only (not very good suggestion) is to put a sunshield in both the windscreen and the drivers window and then to lock the car using the spare key (good idea...

    Electricity Explosion

I'm pretty certain that I won't drive into an overhead power cable (only drive a car) but, just in case, I'd like to know what I should do (not touch any metal and ring 999 on the mobile ?). Cheers, Graham

Toilet becomes internal - cistern overflow?

The narrow red tube looks to me to be there to take a screw which would hold a plastic lid in place, but as it's a ceramic cistern the red tube is probably pretty pointless. Is the whiteish (translucent ?) tube, by the blue ball, the current overflow ? It looks as though it could be an...

Toilet becomes internal - cistern overflow?

Is the internal overflow designed for you to shorten if necessary ? When I replaced my flush valve, I had to saw off the top couple of inches from the (internal) overflow pipe (me being me, I didn't exactly cut it horizontally). Cheers, Graham

    Led bulbs

I've now remembered that we've had a similar question in the past but I don't think it came up with anything helpful to replace a L75mm bulb: http://www.diynot.com/forums/electrics/gu-10-bulb-extender.301011 Cheers, Graham

    Led bulbs

Not sure whether this is really the size you're looking for, but have a squint at: https://www.brightlightz.co.uk/gu10-led-bulb-4w-led-spotlight-with-20-x-5050-smd-chips-35w-50w-halogen It doesn't seem to claim 120degrees but I believe they are. Cheers, Graham

    Gu 10 bulb extender

Hunter99: I'd be somewhat surprised if this helps, but these GU10s are longer (and wider) than normal: http://www.energylightbulbs.co.uk/products/63mm-gu10-5w-led-replacment-for-63mm-halogen-warm-white-or-cool-white I'm afraid I've got no way of knowing whether the length between chamfer and...

    Stumped with PIR

WARNING. I'm not a sparky so if anyone says I'm talking rubbish then I probably am. benunited said Assuming this means that the original colour coding has been followed then I reckon there's been abuse of the coding (by the previous owner). For the setup to work, my guess is that it was...

    Trendy?? Floursent lighting

PEDANTRY WARNING !! Somehow I reckon I'm digging myself a grave here, but I'll risk the mods zapping me (for being off topic), maybe I now know why ericmark doesn't do "theory". Somewhat heavily edited quote:

Fluidmaster PRO71UK valve + Fordham Sprite cistern

I've got round to doing this, so in case it's of any help to anyone else: After emptying the cistern and removing the C link, I had to saw off the flush arm as the nut and bolt which clamp it onto the spindle were rusted solid. Then, the remaining part of the clamp needed tapping with a hammer...

Grey water - Upstairs waste for downstairs cistern

I've had a very odd thought. As I understand it all new flush valves have an in-built overflow (so any o'flow goes visibly into the bowl, not invisibly down a pipe). If the cistern has a hole for an o'flow pipe as well as for water inlet then presumably the (now) unused o'flow hole could be...

Fluidmaster PRO71UK valve + Fordham Sprite cistern

I bought a Fuidmaster PRO71UK flapper valve to go in my plastic Fordham Sprite cistern without carefully checking the installation instructions: http://www.fluidmasteruk.com/downloadable/download/sample/sample_id/95/ Part of the attraction is being able to re-use my flush lever, but Fordham...
